Quick brainstorm session: what should we do about all black towns in the south that are dying? How do we boost the economy? What do we sell?

Living in Atlanta, I meet black folks who have fled these small dying towns and have done really well for themselves by tethering and anchoring down in a growing vibrant city like Atlanta.

That would be my suggestion.

The issue with farming currently is that the only crops that are high value are basically corn, grain and other crops that require fairly nutrient rich soil.

Plus is the restaurant scene in small town Alabama big enough to support. Are restaurants willing to risk shaving already tight margins trying to buy local? Can the clientele support the increased prices of the food?

But I do like that you are at least coming with some type of solution.

Those towns were dead in FL when I moved in 00. Until you get rid of the good ol boy system in the south those towns will continue to suffer.

Give people a reason to move there would be my best guess, but at the same time is these towns in the south near areas that’s attracting talent like that?

Maybe start a pr campaign convincing people to move there

I swear it’s like your motivation for all of this is just to compete with other Black folks lol.
:francis:

What exactly would having our own “Detty December” do collectively for “FBA”?

What is Detty December even doing for the average Nigerian?

And the coastal town entertainment model already exists here, it’s called New Orleans.

How is that working out for “FBA” as a collective?

How is that even working out for “FBA” in New Orleans?
The poster you quoting can’t read so I wouldn’t even take anything that person got to say serious

I highkey think they trolls to make fun/light of the black American experience, they might not even be black or American

Black America don’t claim dude
