Quick brainstorm session: what should we do about all black towns in the south that are dying? How do we boost the economy? What do we sell?

Linking this thread to add to the discussion cause there were some good posts in there.

Back then I was still figuring things out, but 6 years later, the post below is where I’m at with it. All these economic ideas don’t mean squat if we don’t have political power.

If you make up the population of these small towns and then cities we can change that. Political power without an economic base gets ruined too easy.

We may have to start with town mayor and county Sheriff.

Exactly we need to turn the remaining FBA coastal towns into entertainment hubs and market the seasonally as trace destinations like the Africans are doing. We need our own Detty December in places like coastal South Carolina.
I swear it’s like your motivation for all of this is just to compete with other Black folks lol.
:francis:

What exactly would having our own “Detty December” do collectively for “FBA”?

What is Detty December even doing for the average Nigerian?

And the coastal town entertainment model already exists here, it’s called New Orleans.

How is that working out for “FBA” as a collective?

How is that even working out for “FBA” in New Orleans?

My cousin and I were talking. We have have roots in a small town in western Alabama that is dead. shyt looks like the set of the walking dead. Houses falling down, dogs running around, no businesses except dollar general, massive poverty.

Town is 80% black. Black churches don’t do shyt for the people. I think there are less than 800 people left now cause everyone leaves as soon as they can drive.

Here is my idea, hopefully someone reads this and runs with it, if I can’t implement it.

Black Owned Farm to Table Business:

I eat at a lot of restaurants that pride themselves in farm to table food. Meaning picked fresh off the farm, brought to the restaurants prepared and put ln your plate.

Alabama and Mississippi have fertile soil. Land is cheap. There is no industry.

It could be as simple as starting with collard greens and watermelons, chickens.

Truck driving jobs.
Labor.
Administrative jobs.

How many soul food spots across the country get their ingredients from CACs?

Black farmed, black raised, black harvested, black distributed, black prepared and black cooked.

What y’all think??
as soon as you can find funding and labor it would totally take off.

When neonatalists talk about low birth rates they’re talking about all this empty ass farmland out here.

I saw two acres for sale in Eufala Alabama for 20K thought about buying but no way I’d. want to live there.

When u are not willing to work/come together as a whole , then there’s no saving those towns

Hell black folks in big cities in black neighborhoods are not being saved but relocated for hospital expansions , new retail space, etc…
Black people run from Black people. so called Chocalate city is now 40% Black.

I never heard of Detty December and I’m a Pan Africanist and a Repat to boot.

I understand why but there’s no reason why Black People from New Orleans dipped out to where they were sent during Katrina.

It would take businesses and corporations to invest in building infrastructure in those small rural areas which likely will not happen.

Most people don’t have the hustle, knowledge, or discipline to go start a business or have alternate streams of income.

Same thing here in Northeast Louisiana where I live.

Yeah

People got mad at me when I said black people have become Runners over the last 40 years

Meaning we talk all this black community this black community that, but majority of these same black people who talk that shyt they run they ass straight to white communities and hardly do anything for the black community once they leave but love talking

I saw john sally of the pistons on vlad and this nikka literally said why don’t black people who always complain online about entertainers and athletes not helping out in the hood, put they money together and fix up the hood..

Thats all i needed to know , that these black folks who get rich and have influence and make a difference doesn’t give 2 shyts…

Actually you just need people. and the issue is why bust ass in the heat when you can get an office job in Dallas?

Good look on getting women to stay out there.

Ironic thing is dude went to cricitize Black people on a small hat platform.

But point still stands.

In my short lifetime Black people in DC ran to PG county once PG county became Black from top to bottom they moved to Charles County.

I know people who have left here to go to Dallas to do the same ish they could be doing here.

You working a call center job in Dallas and could be doing the same ish in Monroe.

I don’t understand that philosophy.

Ok I’ll spell it out for you.

Forget call center jobs You’d need reliable infrastructure that can withstand storms so that doesn’t happen until there’s a tax base and people to support it.

So you’re talking farms ( also needs infrastructure but way less) and maybe tourism ( maybe)

So first of all you’d have to convince Men to do farmwork You could easily use government subsidies to get this going. There’s a program for Veterans to get into farming not to mention all the Dept of Agriculture help.

You give Black Farmers the money and support that they’re owed through the class action suits and you’re covered there.

But why can’t you get say ex cons or drug addicts out there?

Because the women would go to the cities

Even if a Man wanted to be an independent dirt farmer there would be a lack of women because of the economy of the United States being so great that you can get easier jobs in the city.

Not to mention that’s where the rich simps are.

For what you’re trying to do to work you’d have to have a code based religion or you’d have to do this in Africa or somewhere where there’s not a pleathora of work for even a poorly educated person.

If Someone lived in Eufala Alabama as a farmer, even being Top Flight security in a Mall in Montgomery is better than busting your ass in the heat.

Believe me I thought long and hard about this and I’ll do it but it won’t be in this country.

You can’t really do this in the states because of the lure of easier better paid jobs in the cities and the women in the cities.

I have aunt in Tennessee she had a good sized farm with cattle. I didn’t see her cows because she got rid of them by the time I came down. Her son is a Mechanic and her daughter is a Parole Officer. I don’t think either of them is doing anything with that land.

I just gave my cousin 100 bucks for groceries I told him to go and take over the farm and he won’t do it.

I can’t do it because I’m not really related to them.

The best thing for them to do is move from the state of Alabama. I found this one breh from Birmingham on youtube who exposed the :mjpls: of that city and the state of Alabama in general, and that ish is beyond repair :picard:. Just move from that state and the deep south in general :camby:
