Exactly. Where was he botching over being slow and all of that shyt? Oh yeah...he wasnt. Cena resorted to Blandy like restholds. Why? He cant wrestle back and forth for 30 minutes. Limited worker.

:jadawtf:

Because The Rock (a wrestler who I like far more than Cena) gassed after the first third of the match because he was carrying his Luke Hobbs/Pain and Gain weight into the ring.

You know...that's what workers do when the face gasses. They slap a rest hold on so they can regain their wind.

Not that you'll understand this though.

Would you call his Superman comebacks proper psychology or not? (Seriously. I'm tempted to call them anti-psychology in the most positive way possible, but then I remember that nearly every big time worker has SOME comeback sequence. Maybe this just shows something that should've been blatantly obvious to wrestling fans: As much as we hate to admit it, psychology isn't static. Just a thought.)

Other than that, this is pretty much spot on (and, like I said, I quite dislike Cena).

I hear what you're sayin' breh. I would never say I like everything Cena does in the ring, those Superman comebacks are way too predictable and repetitive. My best guess is that his matches follow that formula because it's always gonna be over with the kids who make up so much of his fanbase.

The respect I have for Cena isn't so much based on his ability to entertain me, but more for his understanding of what works with his main audience.

Once you understand that you (as in the guys who post on here) aren't his core fanbase, it's fairly easy to understand

The stoop with dat dope fanny padding
I think you nailed it perfectly, if you hate Cena, it says a lot about you.

It's sad because there's nothing to hate about the guy, he is a character of a show. He is scripted to do what the director tells him to, but outside of the ring he does incredible things in REAL LIFE.

Yet you got a bunch of grown men who really do HATE a guy for no good reason

complaint, not complete. :shaq2:

As a person...I respect Cena ALOT...the dude's work ethic is crazy on some :ohhh: I :salute: him for his charity efforts and all that...and I have to admit...he DOES put on good matches..and i ain't hating on that..but that's when it stops :hmm:

When he was the Wigga that was my nikka!...even through his raps were corny, it felt real and u couldn't help but cheer for that dude...

But then when he became FULL face and turned into what we see now, it's like :what:..like really tho..what is his character? What's his gimmick?....He comes out wearing that hip-hop shyt, but he don't rap :what:...his whole shyt is just stale as fukk...he needs to change...and when that happens :blessed:

but this segment with Roddy Roddy Piper pretty much sums up how i feel about him....Piper said everything that i was thinking

Restholds were so Rock didn't pull a Lawler and have a heart attack in there.

So many daps to give in this thread. :lawd:

So many logical and reasonable responses. :blessed:

And then I get to an Eric Demira post. :beli:

This was the same guy that was up in the middle of the night posting "news" about a dispute Cena had with his roofer. Very sad.

I don't care for the Cena character but he can put on a very good match, and he's a damn saint for all he does for Make-A-Wish. If I ever met the man I'd give him dap and :salute:

People do pay attention to Cena's matches. They're rarely boring. He deserves some credit for that; he's not the proverbial broomstick.

He always does his part to keep the crowd entertained and into the match.

This thread feels a lot like one we had a few days ago, but I'll repeat the point I made there anyway: Cena is actually a good worker, because true working is a lot more than technical wrestling ability. True working includes psychology. It is everything a wrestler does to work the crowd, and he is very good at some very important aspects of that. As corny as his character may be.

The fact that he's pretty clearly a good dude in real life is just icing on the cake.

This is the problem tho.

Cena has horrible ring psychology and it isn't even consistant. Him doin the Superman comeback ALL the time would be one thing, but we've seen over the years he can and has sold epic beatdowns as if he was nearly killed. Because he's shown that we KNOW he knows how to do that, yet he would rather coast on the Hulk Hogan/Superman formula because it takes less effort and thought.

Its the same thing with his promos, we all liked Cena early on as the rapper not JUST because he was rapping but because he had an edge and creativity to his promos and persona and he has regressed since then.

We get annoyed with Cena because he has shown over the past decade he has a lot of talent and ability in many areas he gets criticized yet instead of trying to improve his craft he just continues to do the bare minimum. As a fan its annoying because he has literally wasted our time. Cena could have been the guy who innovated what a main eventer is supposed to be because he nearly had the total package, but he just chose to coast his way while on top.

He has been the face of the company for about a decade and from a fan perspective, we don't really have much to speak about it. For 10 years as the top guy and his only 2 memorable fueds were with Edge and The Rock.

WWE Raw Rowdy Roddy Piper Piper's Pit With John Cena - YouTube

Re-watching this video made me think....

John Cena was completely avoiding the questions and point Roddy was trying to make. Rather than accepting the criticism and working with it, he's trying to hide behind the fact that "Oh hey, I'm a GOOD person! Who cares that people don't like me, I do Make-A-Wish!" :what:
