82 games of no fukks given by overwhelming majority of the players.

You can really tell when you compare intensity level between regular season vs playoff games.

Nah, I don't get to follow sports as a whole like I used to but I make sure that I keep up with pro basketball. I still get the NBA package and I usually catch the late games, mainly the Lakers. I still love the game and whatever free time I have I sit down and watch games. I'm really impressed with our young talent this year. I'm not a fan like I used to be, that's because I'm busy.

I'm an old head but I don't feel the 80's and 90's players are better than today's players. I'm not an era hater and I don't exaggerate my era like some old heads do.

C/S

People will always think things were better when they were kids, I get that. I was a freshmen in high school when allen iverson crossed up tyrone lue in the finals. shyt, I was a senior when KG won mvp and led the wolves to the WCFs.. so seeing him in a wolves jersey in the next day or two will no doubt make me feel a sort of way, age-wise.

But outside of the injuries, I love the product more today than I did back then. I loved it then too but i had on different lenses... back then I was a teenager full of hoop dreams trying to soak up as much 1on1 bullshyt because I thought that would be the key to making varsity/shining in AAU/college/pro.. etc etc. So all I wanted was to watch Iverson, Kobe, TMAC.. just so i could practice what i saw them do, no matter how garbage that isolation style ball was. The and-1 mix tapes too (which looking back at them now.. were pretty trash too lol).

So ultimately i was more in love with the idea of being a great bball player and watched more so for that. Once that shyt didn't pan out (:dead:) i found i still enjoyed watching bball.. it was just a weird transition simply watching as a "fan" and not as a kid trying to shine in varsity or tryna walk-on in college.

When I have a son I'm definitely going to tell him to cherish the journey that's high school hoops / travel teams/ gym bag+ long socks & sandals/ kicking it with your teammates, watchin NBA games and practicing the moves, playing 21.. 1on1..being able to dunk and not feeling like you were in a car crash right after.. lol.. all of that shyt.

That's what seeing Kobe/Duncan/KG/Vince and all those other now-old guys remind me of. The same way I'm sure these current day teenagers are viewing KD/Lebron/Curry/Westbrook, etc.

Do you feel like you're gonna give a fukk about the NBA when you're 40? I don't at all. My interest is at an alltime low. Im pretty much at the "wake me up when the playoffs start" phase. I tune in sometimes and have no idea who any but maybe 3 or 4 payers are where back in the day I could name damn near entire rosters. Currently there's literally a handful of players left from my "childhood" Kobe, Duncan, Pierce and Garnett. When they are gon I think ill officially be done as far as having an emotional connection to the game. After them, lll watch a few more years to see what the guys my own age do(LeBron, Melo, Durant). As I get older and the players become younger im just losing interest more and more every year
I been wake me up when the playoffs start since 2003 and I'm 32...

That was back when I could watch every game.
Now I work and can't catch but a couple games every 2 weeks...

I'm about to be 36 and sadly this thread hit home with me. There was a time where I would watch every national televised game going back to the NBC days, they felt like such big events. Lakers been my squad for life so I've always watched every single Lakers game dating back to the mid 80's. But I use to love to watch MJ's Bulls, Shaq on Orlando, Barkley on the Suns, etc... So many random talented squads I dug. I knew damn near full rosters from every team. Now I don't watch many NBA games at all. I'm just waiting for the playoffs to start. I will always be connected to the NBA as along as the Lakers are good & relevant though.

Now I Love the NFL week in and week out.
A lot of bruhs are echoing my sentiments here but I guess this one hits the closest. Back in the day I'd hit all the nationally televised games, from start to finish. I treated that first week of the season like a holiday 'cause I knew that meant a free preview of League Pass. Then I'd mark my calendar for when the next freeview(s) would be. (I'm cheap. :manny::laugh:) And yeah, I had almost every roster down cold...I could tell you all about completely random 9th-12th men....dudes like Pig Miller and Antonio Harvey and Anthony Goldwire just to name a very few. :heh:

Nowadays, not so much...shoot, not at all. Having a 3-year-old (who thinks she's 13) has something to do with it I guess, along with having a full-time job that I wake up ~4:30 a.m. for. But if it's a big game, or come the playoffs, I'm making time some kind of way. Especially now that the Wiz are a serious part of the conversation.

Alot of the dudes that work under me at my job are 25 or so and they dont even watch sports. They more into instagram and reality shows.

That's a problem/could be a separate thread in regards to that generation and how some of them act.

That's kinda what I was hinting at, a lot of the enjoyment people get is from debating about people they are stans for. Once that element is gone they don't have a reason to watch and say the game isn't the "same".

I don't have a favorite player I have a favorite team as long as the team is in the league I'll be watching.
