Three company was about a man living with two women pretending to be gay. Martin was about Martin. Friends and living single were similar never thought about it.
Queen Latifah confirms the head of NBC jacked the concept of Living Single to create Friends

3s company is about 3 friends living together, with another male friend who came over all the time and a nosy neighbor and his wife.
Martin is about martin and his friends, Tommy and Cole and his girl Gina and her friend Pam, and the crazy situations they went through.
Friends and living single no different than any of them except in number of friends and complexion to be honest IMHO

Your looking at it from the sitcom tropes which all shows hit at some point ex they all have misunderstanding which goes out of control. What made a show like living singles and friends was as others pointed out it was an ensemble show about young 20 somethings living together there was no other set up. Three company had the whole Jack tripper being gay thing. Friends and living single has no other set up expect they are friends and family living together

Jack faking being gay wasn't the point of the show, and again friends and living single aren't original in setup at all, no different than many other ensemble shows that preceded them, apartment instead of work place or dorms or bar Nothing different.
the only "different" or "original" thing about living single at the time was the cast and who it was marketed to, which is the only thing different about friends as well, the cast and who it was marketed to.
My take though, you don't have to agree.

Set up us everything in the world of sitcoms and I didn't mean the whole point of three company was jack being gay that was just the set up. And friends and living single set up was new and different as far sitcoms go. I think that is the point most of us are trying to get across

I get what point you are saying, I just disagree that LS and Friends setup is unique compared to the shows I've already mentioned

I'm glad the Friends' producer/writer/whatever admitted this. For the people arguing that Living Single isn't original, that's not the point. Put this in a socio-historical context and you will see that it's sadly too common that many successful white shows/artists/ideas have black influences that are not given credit. Yeah it's public knowledge but it's not publicly acknowledged. So this was nice to hear.

3's company was more 3 roomates that were your avg white people with normal jobs or no job at all. Living Single was a bunch of black professionals (and Overton lol) living the single life while being neighbors/roomates...i never saw Friends so i cant speak on it...bunch of white folk laughing and saying how you doin based on the commercials.

Goes both way though, didn't know sanford and son was a rip off of the british shoe steptoe and son. When I found out I was shocked.
But Living Single is to Golden Girls what The Flintstones is to The Honeymooners.
Matter of fact, can we find an ORIGINAL sitcom premise? Because even Ralph & Norton are a rip off of Laurel & Hardy.

Queen Latifa was the largest name on the show but was not the centerpiece. You could remove her and the show would continue.
Remove Lucy, Martain, Gilligan, dude from 3's company, and there is no show.
There was no issue on threes company with 2 girls living together or them having a landlord. The sole isssue was that the man was there among them.
Remove Martain and your show falls apart. Gina & Pam have no quarrel. The workplace element evaporates. There is no reason for Tommy/Cole to be there, etc.
Remove Queen Latifa and the show would just be 5 ppl instead of 6.
Max and dude with the twists had internal stories unrelated to Latifa. Overtoon/Sinclair have a romance indepenant of Latifa. Overtoon/dude with the twists are roomates, neighbors to the remaining women and the building handyman so are all still there for valid reasons. I think the only person displaced by her removal at all would be Maxine cause she was there as her friend... of course she might be there anyway cause she was dating the darkskinned twistyhair dude.
Anyway, thats from memory. Its been awhile since I've seem that show. My mother used to enjoy it.

Nah no latifa there is no show period. That said the showrunners thought they could have a show without one of the people and when they got rid of kyle it went down hill
Same with Martin and when Tisha campbelll left
Sometimes you can survive with people leaving or dying, like cheers, and sometimes it kills the show. Doesn't mean the lead still isn't the lead though. IMHO
