They don't have any real natural predators. Large crocodiles and big cats like lions, tigers, and pumas can kill and eat them but they're not natural predators. They just get into scraps if they get too close to each other, or if they're desperately hungry. They generally like to avoid each other.

That's what I thought, can't see any real solution aside from mass hunting and relocation efforts.

I don't envy anyone that has to do it. The local wildlife is already dangerous without having to deal with super swole pissed off pythons from Africa and Burma.

It just sounds intriguing. Going out there on an airboat with a rifle and shotgun and just doing population control of these invasive animals. Poor things, it's not their fault but we can't really let it go on can we?

I wonder what's like to go to the Everglades to hunt pythons. Sounds interesting and crazy at the same time.

It was a fail. All these hunters came and did it for a month and they only killed 68. Burmese pythons breed litters in the 30's and there's tens of thousands of them. Some of the hunters had to be emergency airlifted away for malnutrition and dehydration.

Yea, I saw that but I'm talking about the actual hunting. These snakes are apex predators that blendd in, can manuever in water and were probably scared due to the increased movement of crafts and people.

But 68 out of an estimated 150,000 doesn't even make sense.

What if they created fake rabbit and racc00n decoys filled with snake poison? I mean, the snakes would eat them and then die. Regular people would not eat the decoy rabbits and racc00ns.
Nah. They hunt by smell and heat/ motion detection.

Hmm, I guess you could try to use live bait and place them in a trap. The snakes would enter the trap, but couldn't kill the bait because it is behind a gate. Once the snake enters the trap, it would cut their body. These are just ideas. You could put blond wigs on all the snakes and give a pair of leather gloves to OJ Simpson and see how that goes.

Southeast Asians sure have a way with snakes.

"The snake has been released into the wild 3 times but keeps coming back." :heh:

I bet if that boy was white the snake would've eaten him by now.

They should make a movie like about this, where the snakes outgrow this park they live in and start terrorizing/eating the human population in Florida, a High Budget movie not a Sci Fi original, movie would be dope :takedat:
