no i don't

the swamps in louisiana were on my mind because i was in nola 2 weeks ago and i used to live in hinesville ga.
:ld: i'm sorry that not pointing out the other states in the vicinity of florida offended you good sir.

Even if the snakes migrated to Louisiana, going to Montana is not a jump and a skip. To make it past the Rockies would be almost impossible. People in Nevada would have nothing to worry about. It's like do you even know the geography of the United States?

They can't survive too much beyond the subtropical wet climate of south Florida though. There's some dispute among scientists about how much they can flourish in northern Florida. Some have been spotted in the panhandle already though...not in high numbers.

:ld: you're using my terminology as a basis for my geographical awareness....

-sigh-

1. i didn't literally mean its a "jump and skip"

2. thanks to humans and their inventions suchs as ships, trains, automobils snakes and other animals have been able to migrate and invade many places that they were not indigenous to.
so technically they can get to montana just by slithering into a shipping container in florida.

3. @VictorVonDoom the video that @Brown_Pride posted had an scientist talking about pythons surviving in temperate and desert environments.

Hold up. Are you telling me these snakes took I-75 to Tampa, crossed the Sunshine Skyway to St. Petersburg, continued north on Route 19, and then made a left onto Route 98? :dahell:
We are doomed.

I'm sayin tho, even in the event that a Burmese Python somehow stumbled into Montana it'd clearly be killed by the brutal winter temps.

yuuuup its pretty much a wrap for the bible belt

if anything, this shows that you just need 1 single self sustaining population along the gulf coast to wipe out a states ecosystem

so realistically, if like lets say someone was stupid enough to have a snake farm in mississippi....and in this snake farm they released 10 or 20 of these things in the wild.....5 yrs later its over

Can't watch the vid now but what type of pythons are they talking about? Burmese?

of course i'm not debating that

So what's the point of arguing whether it made it up there or not if they have zero chance of long term survival? No way these pythons make it past the Carolinas if they even get that far so the issue is containing them where they are then figure out the best method of extermination/relocation.

Those animals play an important role in a balanced ecosystem, Mowgli. The pythons have no natural predators in Florida so they're spreading like crazy despite a lot of money and a coordinated effort by the state to stop them. They also present a potential threat to people and the dogs and cats they keep as pets.
dogg, you don't understand...pythons are the ecosystem now and it's only a matter of time. i for one embrace our future reptilian overlords

breh i'm not even sure @unit321 was even trying to make the point of them being able to survive outside of florida. if he was then i'll gladly concede because that debate is still being studied by scientists. he went at me because its apparently impossible for animals to end up in places they're not suppose to be. i guess armadillos just magically appeared in teneessee :manny:
