yep, everybody knows we would win, the question is are we willing to sacrifice the east and west coast or other major metro areas to do it.USA would smoke Russia with or without nukes. But it would come at a heavy price for humanity
It's a nightmare scenario which none of us should want. Picture WW 1 +2 but far worse. Only idiots who don't understand history and the implications of world war in the 21st century would want a war between USA and Russia.
Being the victors in a mad max looking world would feel like an L and set society back 1000's of years. Our great grandkids would be on some horizon zero dawn shyt, but they'd be speaking english instead of russian.

He has an off ramp, he could just leave and start the process of negotiations to be reintroduced into the global economy again, But that would humiliate putin.
An off ramp in Putin's mind is Ukraine conceding the eastern portion of the country along with most of the black sea coastline to Russia while giving in to ridiculous demands that would leave Ukraine vulnerable to another invasion in the future. But why should Ukraine do any of that when they're winning?
Putin's been president for 20 years and only stepped down to become prime minister for a stopwatch second.

I'm not even sure Russia has the equipment for an additional 300k troops at this point, especially with winter coming. The bigger problem is with Ukraine currently re-enforcing the areas they recently liberated, they've been able to move their forces up...including HIMAR and artillery. These Russian soldiers, who are not trained, will be blown to bits if they plan on invading beyond the annexed territory. I don't see how this turns the tides for Putin and instead may open him up for criticism (or worse) within Moscow. A Russian hardliner would be able to ask why they didn't fully mobilize for instance, and claim a partial mobilization is why this failed.
Russia lost more troops in 6 months than the US did in Vietnam.
