Thoughts on latest free agency things;

Courtney Lee signing: :blessed::salute: (exactly the type of guard we need. 3 & D and plays well on the wing. Goes about his business, nothing flashy)
Joakim Noah: :jbhmm::martin: (like the signing, but 4 years is brutal. Cap hit is bearable I guess.)
Lance Thomas: :patrice::what: (cap hit I don't care for, but why are we giving 8th/9th man off the bench 4 years?)
Brandon Jennings: :rudy::shaq2: (wanted Chalmers or Sessions but for 1 year you could do a lot worse I guess. Should provide scoring on the 2nd unit.)

Bringing over Hernangomez and signing Mindaugas Kuzminskas: :patrice::jbhmm: (TBD. Apparently everyone is high on Hernangomez and that's KP's boy)

I think the smartest thing management did this offseason was realize we didn't have a chance at KD and not waste time angling for a meeting that would've got us nowhere. Used that time to close the deal on Lee and Noah.
Willy excites me a lot. He's nimble with great footwork and a array of post moves. He shows signs of developing a reliable jumper too. He needs work defensively, but he's really gonna benefit with playing with someone like Noah, since he's raw but has the mobility and length to become a good defender. I think Willy can become a good center in this league one day, seriously.

The real reason Rose was always looked at as a high injury concern was his style of play. However after his last surgery he's definitely toned down playing above the rim a lot (like he dunked 1 time last year) and isn't killing himself to be a great defender either (like when he played for Thibs)...... Guys come back from injuries, changed their game so it relies less on athleticism, and have good careers look at Grant Hill and Shaun Livingston.

Last year I was saying that it would be perfect if Rose modified his game to mimic Rod Strickland's. So he could still be elusive, and shift but play under the rim. He's never gonna be MVP-esque again but miles better than Shump at the 1 or my-jumper-nice-but-I'm-not shooting Jose.

And I love the Noah signing. Noah is still serviceable AND most importantly, he gives them an identity. I think we need 1 more shooter, but we are a good team now.

You know...

I hate the media more times than not.

When an opposing team came in to play against the Knicks in the Garden... they'd stick about 8 microphones in his face and force him to answer 2 questions:

1) What are you thoughts about new Knick rookie sensation Kristap Porzingis?

2) Do you think he has a future in this league?

What the fukk are professional athletes supposed to say about a fellow athlete other than,

"Yea, he's an interesting match up. Uhm... I've seen a little tape on him and he's going to be a difficult guard. He, you know, he keeps working hard and he's going to make a name for himself."

Then, a year later, it's "Westbrook/Durant/Lebron/Etc rave about Porzingis, they want to play with him."

To this day, I despise that unicorn shyt. I feel like it was less of Durant having a genuine reaction regarding Porzingis and more about him just saying something.

Even though I'm not a Kobe stan by any stretch... his response to question's about Jeremy Lin right before Lin torched the Lakers for 30+ was perfect.

"I don't know him." Next question.

Alan Hahn did a poll on his twitter and 70%+ voted NOT to even entertain a trade.

I've said many times that I wouldn't be a fan if they pulled some wild mango shyt...

Had they traded Porzingis for Westbrook... I'd legitimately be HAPPY to rid myself of the burden of being a Knick fan until James Dolan sells the team.

And I don't give a fukk if Porzingis is a bum moving forward. There comes a time where you stop leveraging your future.

We are NOT going to be any closer to winning a chip in with moves like that considering the Golden State Durants and Lebron's choke hold on the East.

I'd rather not leverage and try to pull off a miracle with our Vietname Squad this year. :salute:

Am I bugging or does that article say KP could be the reason Westbrook would want to sign with us next summer and make zero mentions of trading KP for Russ?
NO, you're right.

That's why I ranted about the Unicorn shyt and all of the hoopla surrounding other athletes love for Porzingis.

shyt is ridiculous. They don't even know Porzingis. And honestly, if you'd like to play with him that bad...why not play with Giannis. :manny:

Kyle O’Quinn shaping up to bolster ‘wow’ Knicks moves

ORLANDO, Fla. — Knicks backup power forward Kyle O’Quinn knows the perception of the Knicks has changed drastically following Phil Jackson’s wave of splashy acquisitions across the last two weeks: Derrick Rose, Joakim Noah, Courtney Lee, Brandon Jennings.

Now the Knicks aren’t just hoping to make the playoffs. They are expected to. O’Quinn admitted the first thing that came to his mind on June 22 when he heard about the Rose blockbuster was: “Wow. Wow.’’

“I’m excited about every year, but this year it looks so clear,’’ O’Quinn told The Post on Tuesday at the Orlando Summer League. “A lot of people will put us in there. It’ll be a different element in training camp instead of being a startup trying to shock the world. We made a lot of changes and it looks like the playoffs, but you got to put the work in.”

Jackson has reinvigorated the fan base with the addition of three new starters who give the club as good a starting five on paper as anyone other than Cleveland and Toronto in the East.

“These guys have played in big-time games, big-time playoff series, you got the [2011] MVP on your team,’’ O’Quinn said. “Those things, you can’t take off someone’s resume. That will trickle from top to bottom and everyone’s ready to soak it in.’’

Though O’Quinn’s role was in flux last season, he was always the loudest voice in the locker room. Now he has help in the leadership department in the chatty Noah, whom O’Quinn always has admired for his roughhouse style. But Noah is coming off a 29-game campaign due to January shoulder surgery.

“That’s his game,’’ O’Quinn said. “That’s why he’s gotten injured, because he plays like a dog. He ain’t no wuss. I think if he stays healthy, his competitive grit and grime will help guys like myself who’ve looked up to him throughout my career.”

Despite rumors the Knicks might trade O’Quinn to open up $4 million more in cap space to sign a backup point guard, it never materialized. He sat between coach Jeff Hornacek and associate head coach Kurt Rambis during the Knicks’ summer-league game Tuesday.

“If you heard it, I heard it, but I don’t think anything’s happening,’’ O’Quinn said.

In fact, the Knicks need more of O’Quinn’s type — a physical backup banger on the front line. One league scout said of the Knicks’ current roster: “I’d like to see a big bulky center be a third guy in [after Noah and Kristaps Porzingis].’’

The Queens product intends to show more this season after an up-and-down first year of his four-year, $16 million pact. His minutes fluctuated because of his occasional lapses on defense.

“I want to embark in that role from the start, stick with it, right from training camp and roll it out for the rest of the year,” O’Quinn said.

The 26-year-old is noticeably lighter than he was last season. As Rambis walked past him before the game, the coach grabbed O’Quinn’s shrinking midsection and smiled approvingly. O’Quinn won’t reveal the exact weight loss, but said he has taken up “hot yoga.’’

“Trying to trim down a little bit,’’ said O’Quinn, who recently returned from a week-long stay in Latvia to visit Porzingis. “I’m trying to stay in the best Kyle form I can be. … It just came to me, the yoga idea. Switch it up a little bit in the offseason.’’

Right now, O’Quinn is their most established big off the bench. The Knicks have agreed to terms with their European stash pick, center Willy Hernangomez, but they will bring him along slowly. Out of cap space, the Knicks may be outbid for their free-agent center Kevin Seraphin. The Knicks bigs will benefit from Rose’s creativity at point guard.

“I know he’s ready to get out here and show the best form of Derrick Rose,’’ O’Quinn said. “If he stays healthy, I’m lucky to be in position to play with him.”
