Yeah, I don't think I'm arguing that Biyombo is a worse player than Noah....I honestly can't gauge that because if Noah is never the player he was again then clearly it's a debate (we're talking about a former DPOY and potential MVP here vs a guy who has yet to prove he's a top starter). I'm arguing about who's better for this team...now and in the future. Biyombo doesn't make this team a contender, and he wouldn't guarantee us to move a step in that direction either.

I feel where you're going on this, but I think this is again up for debate. Which one is better for our future would be the big debate... 3 and 4 years from now, it's hard to believe Noah won't at the minimum be regressing while Biyombo (24) will have just entered his prime. Noah is the biggest upside pick for this present year and for Melo's timeline. Biyombo makes a lot more sense imo with KP though, because he'll likely be a better player 4 years from now which is pretty much impossible to claim for Noah.

That said, I gotta repeat, I don't mind the Noah move. I think they want Willy to develop into that long term answer at C, they gave him first round pick money for a reason. But anyone who opposes a strict win-now strategy is gonna point to KP's timeline where names like Biyombo, Crabbe and Clarkson make more sense. It's a matter of preference though.

Thoughts on latest free agency things;

Courtney Lee signing: :blessed::salute: (exactly the type of guard we need. 3 & D and plays well on the wing. Goes about his business, nothing flashy)
Joakim Noah: :jbhmm::martin: (like the signing, but 4 years is brutal. Cap hit is bearable I guess.)
Lance Thomas: :patrice::what: (cap hit I don't care for, but why are we giving 8th/9th man off the bench 4 years?)
Brandon Jennings: :rudy::shaq2: (wanted Chalmers or Sessions but for 1 year you could do a lot worse I guess. Should provide scoring on the 2nd unit.)

Bringing over Hernangomez and signing Mindaugas Kuzminskas: :patrice::jbhmm: (TBD. Apparently everyone is high on Hernangomez and that's KP's boy)

I think the smartest thing management did this offseason was realize we didn't have a chance at KD and not waste time angling for a meeting that would've got us nowhere. Used that time to close the deal on Lee and Noah.

Welcome Kuzminskas :salute:

I'm hearing he's a great ball movement guy plays without the ball. Above average athlete by Euro standards likes to fly in for putbacks and tips on the offensive glass, 6'9 swingman with a decent three point stroke, likes to post on both low blocks, aggressive cutter and quick decision maker loves to get to the rack, pushes tempo handling ball off rebounds like D-Will. Gives great effort on D but not a great defender. One of the most productive players in Spanish league, was coveted by Atlanta, Boston, San Antonio, and the Lakers. Balled against Team USA in the 2014 FIBA.

That smug Euro swag

Just finished listening to JADubin's podcast about the signings. The guest couldn't stop gushing about Kuz. Basically everything you said but the thing that stuck out to me the most was that although he was a starter, they used him in a backup role (ala Manu Ginobli) so he felt dude will thrive coming off the bench. He's also gonna play in the Olympics so we have that to look forward too this summer.

In contrast, he didn't have the same enthusiasm for Hernangomez. Felt like the kid is in desperate need of playing time (didn't get much this season on a veteran team) and was hoping that he'd be signed in time to play on the Summer League.

BUT, the good sign about both these dudes is that they played in the Spanish leagues that translate the best to the NBA as far as player output predictions for Euro ball.
