Heads up: that's not how the NBA cap works, you can't just "go over the cap" and pay a penalty. Once you hit the cap, you can only really offer the league minimum to guys. Usually it's that, plus a small exception.

So if you have 30 mil in cap space, and you sign a guy at 18 and 12... then ESSENTIALLY: you have to fill out the rest of your roster with guys that sign for the minimum.

If you sign Noah and Lee, I don't think you can't afford lin or crawford.

Low-key, I'd consider taking a shot on Terrence Jones to play under the Horn. He's mobile, he covers a ton of ground on defense, he's shown that he can shoot the ball. Last year was a bad year for him (and the whole team, really) But he'll turn 25 this season, and could be a buy low candidate.
I mentioned teerence Jones before. I want him on this team.

Just a bit of on going over the cap, we would be able to go over the cap on FA's we've had for two consecutive seasons aka Lance Thomas and Langston Galloway and we'd have one more above minimum contract to offer in the form of the lower level exception but it's pretty low anyway (I think 2.5 million). So theoretically we could spend our cap, use the LLE and then pay LG and LT whatever we want. So there's a little bit of leeway, but not much.

Terrence Jones would be a cool addition, I was hype on him coming out of the draft but he's never really come close to hitting the potential he's got. That wing span and mobility is crazy and we need a cheap back-up PF imo (still not buying KOQ as a PF). I think Noah, Lee and a back-up PG should be feasible (Tim Frazier worth a look? Could be late season fool's gold but he looked legit to me and should actually be affordable). LLE to bring over Willy and then bringing back Galloway/Lance would set up a decent (really a beggars can't be choosers but decent) bench rotation.

Rose/Frazier
Lee/Galloway
Melo/Lance
KP/Jones
Noah/Willy or KOQ

Third stringers could be one of Baker/Harris, Early (or some other minimum contract Forward) and KOQ or Willy. There'd be upside all over the bench and the starting unit should be a top ten defense in this league even with Rose's struggles on that end last year.

Edit: Two other names worth a look for bench PG and PF would be Etwaun Moore (depending on cost though) and Jon Leuer. Shoutout to that article posted earlier, didn't even know Moore was available.

Some of the FA figures I'm hearing are scary. A few tweets are setting Bazemore's value at 20 mil...come on now, I'm a fan of his and think that's insane.
That's the problem with the cap going up and everyone having money, market value has been screwed. It's the new normal:francis:

@I.V.

Thanks for the cap clarification...

What would have happened if we signed Durant?! :dwillhuh:

We'd have had to fill the rest of the roster with players willing to take minimum contracts??:damn:

Well, not entirely. But yes, it would definitely limit flexibility signing guys THIS year. However, with Rose coming off the cap AND the cap going up next year... you would be able to sign another big-ticket guy.

Evan and d rose hate each other and Evan can't shoot for shyt. We don't need a big ass pg :yeshrug:

I mentioned teerence Jones before. I want him on this team.

I agree with both of these posts. Turner is ass, no thanks. (though I find him hilarious) He can't shoot, so I don't want him.

Jones is young, shows a WIDE range of useful skills, and could definitely get better. These are the kinds of guys you wanna take a shot on. In the same way we got a good return on investment with Derrick Williams... that should be our aim. Not rolling the dice on guys who are on the wrong age of the curve.

I liked the :rose3: move, but the :noah: move at $18M doesn't seem so smart. noah is washed at this point. he averaged under 5ppg on horrible shooting numbers. he struggles to convert around the rim, and cannot explode anymore.
Hmm no chance with a lighter load he can perform ?
