Yall need to not let a non-knicks fan come in this thread and troll you guys into making obvious statements. If someone doesn't understand that:

. A rookie gets minutes, not just for what they'll do today but for what they could be doing next year and the year after that and for their career as they develop.

. 2 games into a season, you don't really know a damned thing about how good players will be long term. Mudiay had 17 points on 13 attempts and 11 TO's in his ONE game...that's ballin' now? But KP ain't ballin' when he puts up 16 points on 11 attempts. That's the one game comparison you can get, since Mudiay "balled" for one damned game.

. KP was matched with an allstar from last season and that all star only managed 11 points last night

Then they're either a troll or stupid. Don't give the dude the respect or acknowledgement. If you're gonna quote him, hit the :manny: and move on. But stop feeding the trolls, we got better things to discuss than trying to explain simple basketball concepts to somebody.

I love NY. Dude straight tryna to play me. Give a rook minutes. That doesn't mean throw them in bad match-ups. Losses will pile up that way. Mudiay was ballin' in the preaseason too, mainly because of his assists and some other stuff I can't remember at the moment. His shooting has been trash. Karl-Anthony Towns has been the real baller. No, KP hasn't been ballin'. He's been playing like trash on both ends. Shooting a low percentage, not passing well, allowing layup after layup, rebounding like a forward and sometimes like a guard. Etc. Millsap was 'Melo's assignment and had 11 rebounds. Meanwhile, Horford went off.

:mjlol: at you telling people not to explain basketball after this book you just wrote.:mjlol: at better things to do on a basketball message board.

Horford was RoLo's assignment though....

Listen, I was on the anti-Porzingis bandwagon when he got drafted, but you're being a bit ridiculous right now. You're trying to dog him after 2 GAMES :what:

I love him. I believe he'll be a superstar one day. He's just not teflon to me and he gets too attention and shields.

i'm actually feeling pretty good about tomorrow. granted we weren't amazing and were sloppy as shyt, we just just came off a back to back where we killed the first night. despite our sloppiness we only lost by 14 with melo putting up bricks and all his shots turning into turnovers against a team that's going to be a 1-3 seed. with some adjustments and melo :sadcam: getting his shyt together i can see it being a close game.

John Wall and Bradley Beal vs Calderon and Sasha to start the game is scary fam...but they'll be on the second night of a back to back so I'm tryna be optimistic. KOQ is gonna have to put this dude Wall on his ass a couple of times because there aren't many players in the entire league that could even contain dude, but hopefully we force him to make some jumpers.

You do what's best for the team over the next 5 years, you let rookies play through mistakes while still having them learn from veterans... and you accept the fact that this team probably isn't going to make the playoffs this year, but that doesn't make this year lost.

So when does Melo get held accountable? If he's going to just Jack like he did last night this season is pointless.

I don't mind KP starting, but I'd like to see him play more minutes with the backups. He plays better with them, specifically with grant and o'quinn, who create a lot more movement.

Let's night was a ass whipping. Porzingis looked like he was pressing, so did KOQ -- we had Sasha on Kover which was a disaster, Calderon can't guard a parking space. Rotations looked brutal, they ran doubles at grant and he didn't know what to do... Dwill took some godawful shots... the only one that looked decent last night was Galloway and Sideshow.

Porzingis is going to have to learn how to rotate quickly, and be in position to use his length. But man, him catching and finishing that pass, on his cut off the ball was something else.

1-1, gotta keep moving forward. There are going to be some ugly games.
wow fair balanced insighful post ..................had to double check i was actually on the coli

my hope is derek staggers the line ups at 1 and 2. i would rather have sasha start because at least can get buckets sporadically but derek is hardheaded so :yeshrug:

How is shooting nearly 45% from the field and 46% from 3 in the preseason not well enough? Are you really judging him from phantom and touch fouls being called on him in Milwaukee, causing him to be on the bench for most of the game in bogus foul trouble, disturbing his rhythm, and shooting poorly last night in a back-to-back when everyone shot poorly because it was a back-to-back?

I'm basing it on regular season numbers from both last year and this one. Why don't you post Calderon's percentages through two games? Preseason is preseason... While being a decent indicator to how a team or player may perform, the short sample size and inconsistent lineups don't lend any favors to your argument. You're better off using his impeccable career stats than his comparably useless preseason ones.

KP, Gallo, and Grant can develop all they want. That doesn't mean you throw them in bad match-ups in the meantime. You will watch the losses pile up. They did not, I repeat, did not, defend better than Jose and Sasha last night. Not playing Jose and Sasha at the same time, I get, but benching Jose would be crazy. He can shoot, pass, rebound, keep his turnovers low, lead, and knows the Triangle.
I'd like to get to know how you figure players being beaten off of the first dribble alone every single time is not worse than being scored on off of picks and smart passing. You use points scored as a measure of defense when there is visual evidence that Calderón and Vujacic are clearly worse defenders. It's not a coincidence that their plus/minus last night looked the way it did

Melo wasn't the reason we lost last night :yeshrug:

Everybody on the Knicks was part of the reason they lost last night. Rushed shots, bad defense...

BUT, @Trip -- it's too early for the bullshyt man. We can all agree that Carmelo is going to have to carry a significant scoring load on this team, this year, right? Like, without other viable and proven scoring options? And with rookies that are still struggling to run the offense efficiently, and move through their options....

We're two games in... let's just chill the fukk out, and let them try to work through a few kinks before we start trying to hold EVERYONE accountable. I mean, we're .500! :krs:
