Like it or not, I don't see this team tanking. Everyone in the organization is talking about immediate results right now. They have Melo playing the way Phil wanted, KP is a huge piece, RoLo gives the C spot stability and there's 30 million dollars in cap room before they renounce any FA's for more space. Waiving and stretching Calderon could add around 5 million more and finding a taker for KOQ would add 4 mil. I just don't see Phil going the tank route unless Melo explicitly demands a trade and he seems to be saying the opposite. I think Phil is gonna go after it this offseason and I'm just hoping that doesn't mean forced moves like the Amare deal going uninsured.

We can wish for a tank season to get a great pick in the next draft, but I just don't think that's gonna happen.

Yea. I mean, I think without a Melo trade, we won't be BAD ENOUGH to get in the lottery again considering our circumstances - roster, Cap space, and coach.

But aside from a miracle...this is a pretty neutral position to be in. It's definitely not a bad place.

fukk a tank. NYK needs to get back to playing competitive post season basketball. Even if it's as an 8th seed. We went to the NBA finals as an 8th seed before so fukk it. I'd love to see a Knick 'chip before I die, and some of yall wanna be garbage next season to have a chance at a pick that may or may not pan out. For a couple years at that.


Stop with the championship teams are built thru the draft pipe dream. They're built thru a combo of trades, free agency, drafting, and a whole lotta luck. A huge portion of that luck is your pick panning out as projected. Now watch 1 of you claim "but but the picks can be moved as assets too" then in the next breath claim the Knicks never develop anybody.


Just get me a new starting backcourt Phil and a scorer off the bench. Playoffs. And I'm good.
