I'm pretty sure that I heard that the salaries of the player option for both Afflalo and Williams don't come off the Knicks books until they officially sign with another team.

I'll try to find out for sure, but I believe by not opting in their contracts immediately go off the books. About 33 million in hand to start FA is nice. I'd have preferred D-Will opting in tbh though.

Most contracts are backloaded (pause ) the amount goes up every year til the end of the agreement... So for example, year 1 starts at 25, year 2 27, year 3 29, etc.
