Aright, in case yall don't get a chance to watch or just want some cliff's notes from the press conference:

Asked about bringing in a PG, he said he was ready to work with what we have, Jerian and Jose. But would be prepared for any PG we brought in. Wroten was conspicuously unnamed but at 6'6 Horny may have plans to run him at SG. If Wroten can buy in defensively, he'd make a quality compliment to Jose who is conservative and a great shooter but doesn't slash...so I could see that tandem being part of a future plan if we're really stuck with Jose. But that's all speculation based on very limited comments.

Jeff sounds ready to recruit players and excited being in NY. Asked "who wouldn't want to coach in NY" at one point and with respect to players "who wouldn't want to win in NY" ...sounds like one of their sell points to FA's on display early.

I actually interpreted the lack of talking about Wroten was as much to keep options open as it was to see how he did in summer league. I think that he is probably going to be the starter. However, it would be a fiasco if they said he was the starter, then he stunk it up during summer league and they then had to look elsewhere.

Also I like having Hornecek helping in the FA recruitment. He gives off that college coach feel that a lot of the better coaches tend to have these days. It use to be these big personality coaches but from Kerr, to Stevens, to Casey, even Lue all seem a lot more bookish and quiet. I wonder if the analytical needs of the modern NBA is the cause for this.

Knicks really need to get a decent 3 pt shooting guard who can push the ball and defend. It looks like they are trying to find one that might go in the second round, but I hope that's the backup plan in case they strike out in FA.

I'm sure it's been posted but I don't wanna go thru pages.

Anybody have faith that Tony Wroten can step up next season?
Because that seems like the route they're going to go. Signing one of the top PGs in free agency seems unlikely.

We gotta prepare as if he's gonna be bum
He's coming off acl and was dropped by the 76ers
I'm looking forwward to seeing him play too but I'm tired of taking gambles on all these "Mayb" players (d will Kyle oquinn Galloway sasha etc)and asking so much of them.
I want established talent.
Wroten can be solid off the bench if he's as advertised, but I'm not prepared to bank the season on him

When the fukk is Aaron Affalo gonna officially opt out?

He can sucker somebody else into thinking he's a solid defender
I feel he gonna be in for a rude awakening when he doesn't get the offers he want but then I realize everyone is getting paid this offseason, but I hope he opt out soon. I'd rather have that money his contract for a fa.

I feel Wroten can't be any worse than Calderon, d was a problem for him the whole season, he didn't distribute the ball properly, couldn't slash and break down d. We mainly need Wroten to play d and breakdown d, with the latter he can easily distribute.

Yep like Ron Harper did for the Bulls and Lakers. Wroten needs to reinvent himself as a big perimeter defender, ball handler, who can take an outside shot if left open.

Jeff Hornacek on not dunking, what he won’t tolerate and Knicks belief | New York Post

Q: Tell Knicks fans why you’re the right man for this job.

A: We’re gonna bring a blend of tough play, have fun, excitement, and I think a style that the fans will really enjoy getting behind the guys. It’s gonna be a great balance between half-court play and getting out in the open. I think most fans, what they want to see is the players, win or lose, play as hard as they can. And that’s what we’re gonna do.

After reading this interview I got to admit Hornecek might be the first coach for the knicks who is legit likable :ehh:

Like I'm hoping he does well because he seems like a good guy and a good coach as much as because he's the knicks coach:jbhmm:

Also all the stuff he is saying is basically what the fans have been asking for since it feels like forever:obama:

So how do we feel about getting rid of Shump and JR after watching a couple games of them in the finals?...

Is Phil justified, or should he have still been able to get more for them?
