Regardless on whether or not we pay max to a fa, which I and many others don't want, these dudes are gonna get payed this year we've seen how the market value has been skewed these last few years cause of desperate teams and the cap increase.

I actually think they make a playoff push this year. I would prefer they tank and try to force Melo to leave but its pretty clear that's not the plan....especially because Phil didn't hire tank commander Rambis.

Year 1: Break the team Down and get a High Pick
Year 2: See what needs to be fixed (Coach, Back Court)
Year 3: Fix holes on team (Coach, Back Court) and make a playoff push
Year 4: Try and add a Star player To make a deep playoff push
Year 5: Melo (Opts out*) and they try and add another Star player to make a deeper playoff push

All of that and KP would still be on his rookie contract through the last year and doing something like this is only possible due to all of the cap increases.

When Melo sounded optimistic about the future, I figured Phil's plan would be a playoff push asap though I'd prefer another conservative spending year. I've seen some fringe sites saying that Hornacek wants Rondo/Lin as our top targets...I don't like much that at all, but it's not something I'd be shocked at either since it'd keep Melo happy but also shouldn't cost enough cap to pull us out of a max slot next offseason. I could picture Phil's discussion with Melo being something closer to an agreement that they'd make a playoff push this year and if it doesn't work out; Melo will agree to waive his NTC and Phil will agree to trade Melo somewhere he'd actually want to go because Melo's tune did a full 180 after the exit meetings.

cut calderon (why is dis nikka talking like he coming back to the team tho.. what did you tell him phil:francis:)
don't resign affalo or d williams
seraphin, early, sasha are all gone as well. we have a lot of bums on our team

realistic signgings:

if we are gonna a high end pg, rondo is really the only option
conley cost too much and is hurt
rondo isn't getting no max, is a vet, still proved he can play, gets along with melo, and knows how to run a offense.

if not him, than we gotta try to get teague from atlanta. might get lucky and be able to flip o quinn or something for him. they clearly wanna start the other homie at pg so the price for teague especially for 1 year shouldn't be a lot.
get the fukk outta here with jeremy lin, we have enough back ups

on the SG end should look to get batum or courtney lee. bazemore is solid too. not a lot of options there.

im going under the assumption we have no chance at durant

robin lopez is a beautiful trade chip that we should use to get a standout talent.

its phil only succeessful signing tho so i doubt he gets rid of him. look how he attached he is to calderon:francis:
dwight howard no
derozen no

Was gonna say no to Rondo but I just read he shot over 35% from 3 this season on a good amount of attempts so :manny: If they go that route I won't be upset. Conley's achilles and durability scare me because his price tag is gonna be high. Don't wanna pay dude then see him in suits for 3 qtrs of the season. If Phil spends on the 2 spot but still wants to tweak the 1, there's always DJ Augustin. He balls everywhere he goes. I do wanna see what Grant can do with some renewed confidence and a pg friendly coach tho.

I don't see a single FA PG that won't be overpaid this offseason...maybe not Lin since he was a bench player, but how far does he move the needle really? We need to focus our money on SG where we could actually get value and hope a PG hits the trade market for cheap. At this point, I'm wondering how cheap Brandon Jennings will be...:mjcry:

I think Phil is Content with our PG situation.
I think he's looking at it with Wroten, Grant, and if he can flip Calderon or Qquinn for a Vet PG that's the route he's going to take. Honestly depends on how Wroten looks.
