no rapper evolves. we need to stop this corny ass narrative that rappers have some kind of story arc they all rap about the same shyt.

j cole rapped about the same shyt since the warm up for a decade

k dot be rapping about the same thing he did on the ep

drake been doing the same shyt since take care

big sean do the same thing since finally famous 2 aka uknowbigsean

nip rapped about the same shyt

curren$y been rapping bout the same shyt since 07

krit the same

nas the same shyt

biggie literally rapped about nothing but it was amazing

every rapper has a canon. and its nothing wrong with it
Kendrick, J. Cole, Drake came in the game super polished.

Nas subject matter evolved over time.

Biggie rapped about nothing?

I can tell you when he and his brother first went mainstream, no one predicted a 20-year career for either of them. He's a huge success considering where he started and muhfukkas gotta give that up for him...

But we've made it to 2022 and the best versions of Pusha T were when he was Clipse/Re-Up Gang, circa 2002-08. I've yet to hear a track, and certainly not an album over the last 14 years, that matches the way he was rapping on Lord Willin--->We Got It 4 Cheap---->We Got It 4 Cheap Vol 2--->Hell Hath No Fury---->We Got It 4 Cheap Vol 3...

That's a 5-drop run of elite rapping from the Brothers Thornton and in a crew of nikkas who could all spit, Push routinely stood out. Getting with Kanye resuscitated his career abd I ain't mad at him for it, but he just isn't as dope a sitter as he was in the 00s...

We Got It 4 Cheap is one of the GOAT mixtape series ever. That's the brightest part of his legacy to me and its saying something considering the talent we've had drop tapes over the decades...

boy you named some heat :whoo:

unfortunately I think most people only are fans of the more popular new era Push

Which is a shame, because Push's peak as a rapper was definitely pre-2010. Happy for him that he was able to string a two decades career together and grow his fanbase, but we know bro. Early career Push was twice as nice as anything he's been post-2010...

It's crazy because it's hard for me to imagine anyone being a PUsh fan only off the new stuff. Not that it's not dope, but the Clipse and Re-Up Gang era is such a huge part of his legacy. After Clipse broke up I kind of figured Push's big scale career might be done until I saw him come out on stage to Kanye debuting Runaway at the VMAs. To me that was the beginning of the 2nd part of his career.

True :ld:

I haven’t even liked any of his recent solo projects at all due to this. He’s too old for that style. I dislike Jay doing it too :yeshrug:
His initial solo album was dope. But then he decided to show 0 growth even if he is a dope mc.
I still get shivers every time I listen to malice by popular demand verse.
That how you rap to coke game in a grown manner.
Or even Nas goat verse on triple beam.

Goddamn the boy's back
For pushing a mountain of snowcaps to avoiding the kojak
The pioneer of the coke rap
I'm dancing with the stars stepping on blow doing the toe-tap
The dope return like I had it on Lo-Jack
It made its way home like a road map I fathered this
If I mislead any kid that's fatherless
That burden's on my soul as long I exist
Generation lost they saying they can't reach us
The answer is the Lord like Saturday Night Fever
I kept it in the crib it made me a light sleeper
Whether watching for the Feds or avoiding the Grim Reaper.
We're deeper than rap money and hoes, it's deeper than that
Fight the temptation but it keep coming back
Money stacked to the ceiling just as quick as it dispense
Who knew them commas meant you could lose your common sense?
Before it's too late all I can tell 'em is repent unh!

This nikka 44 years old still rapping about coke like he just came off the corner, and still using it for a metaphor for other things like that is difficult but its one of the easiest things to do in music

As an adult with kids I cringe looking back that I actually liked his music

why should he ? he did all his best rapping from 2000 to 2010.

he slowed his style down to be a solo mc and became more animated/character driven and gives people exactly what they want.
people were mixed on his solo career but the Daytona and Addion record back to back cemented him as a soloist and he just feeds the demand/meme of it all.

as one of his biggest fans on I can admit there is a bit of a bias towards him by certain media but its nice to see him get his due.

He’s a boring artist who is great at relationships. Definitely can put words together and Addidon was amazing. On the other hand let’s keep it real Pusha has always been a man with no country. He makes east coast music for east coast nikkax that don’t listen
