True. He does it at a high level over dope beats so he gets a pass. Does this hurt his placement in my eyes as a rapper? Sure. Should rappers grow up? Sure. But some get passes if they're just dope, man. Spitta comes to mind. And Pusha.

Saying Biggie didn't rap about shyt is a crazy ass take though :dwillhuh:

Everyday Struggle
Suicidal Thoughts
Juicy
Gimme The Loot
I Got a Story To Tell
10 Crack Commandments
One More Chance

Sky's The Limit
Long Kiss Goodnight

The list goes on. Dude could do storytelling, concept joints, rapping in alternate characters, depression, suicide, rags to riches, sex joints, diss tracks, kingpin shyt, poverty music...

The idea that Big was a one dimensional rapper is absurd. :mindblown:
hes not saying Biggie was one dimensional(although he isnt really that multifaceted as yall are trying to push.)

his point is about substance and rapping about something with some content and meaning behind it.

Big had a small(and very small at that) part of his catalog with some substance, introspection etc

but alot of his music was just talking shyt, brag rap, killing nikkas shyt, and saying wild shyt,

even half these songs you named in defense of him

Juicy
Gimme The Loot
I Got a Story To Tell
One More Chance
Long Kiss Goodnight

all fit the bill @Renegade47 was talking about, they are all either brag rap(Juicy is basically a rags to riches brag song), typical mainstream Rap/R&B(One more chance), talking shyt, etc

and that would be most of what he rapped about except for the small exceptions of those 1-4 songs people like to throw out.(sky's the limit, miss u)

besides those handful of songs literally 97% of the guys music was just talking shyt and being on some fly nikka shyt.
from his features, to his unreleased songs, to the music he put out

rapping about brauds, mafioso shenanigans, guns, drug dealing, etc

Even the artist he wrote for like JM, Kim, Diddy all had nothing but songs by him that were about bullshyt and nonsense

Renegade is right

no rapper evolves. we need to stop this corny ass narrative that rappers have some kind of story arc they all rap about the same shyt.

j cole rapped about the same shyt since the warm up for a decade

k dot be rapping about the same thing he did on the ep

drake been doing the same shyt since take care

big sean do the same thing since finally famous 2 aka uknowbigsean

nip rapped about the same shyt

curren$y been rapping bout the same shyt since 07

krit the same

nas the same shyt

biggie literally rapped about nothing but it was amazing

every rapper has a canon. and its nothing wrong with it
this is facts, almost every rapper except for a few really change up concepts, themes and storylines in their music so drastically

every rapper has core concepts and topics they tackle.
and as you pointed out acts like say Lupe still have revisited themes they frequently dwell in with their art.
nikkas want Pusha to stupidlly switch genres to some "grown man music" which is dumb to me

a better critique on Pusha would be for him to implement more different perspectives, storytelling or even introspection on the drug topics he rapps about.
to further advance his art IMO.

not wanting him to switch into some other subgenre of hip hop because "hes old and still rapping about crack"
i always find it weird why this is always held toward street rappers and never others of other subgenres like concious or backpack who been rapping on the same shyt.

I know why tho

ross is way more varied and a better artist. the majority of his career hasnt been spent doin drug talk. i notice people exaggerate this often. i couldnt even imagine him releasing a single like diet coke today. now could terrance even attempt a project like black dollar?

I don't see the issue. He entertains and many rappers don't really grow as artist.

push is a perfect blend of mase and biggie to me, just ill flows and entendres, witty shyt.... people me wanting artists to spill their heart outs all the time, relax
