And if Jimmy was gone and Trey struggles, team go 8-9, the same people wouldn't be calling him a bust and saying we should've kept Jimmy?

They cut Jimmy and he go to Seattle and they beat us week two, this fanbase not gonna meltdown? Especially if it's following a loss to Fields and the Bears?

Any time you got a first year starter on a team that's supposed to contend for a championship, there's pressure. A ton of it. If he's really that dude he'll gonna rise to the occasion

There's potential for this to cause weird vibes in the locker room and be a distraction, I said that a few pages back before they announced this. But also that I'd keep him a year on a restructure if he agreed to it. Up to Trey to take charge and dead the narrative
If Seattle beats us twice with Jimmy as their qb, you have far worse problems to worry about it.

This Seattle narrative is horrendous. People are scared that a loaded team might lose to a shyt team with a mediocre at beat qb? Then why even play football if you're scared to release a mediocre qb?

This move simply shows that the FO is trying to ride the fence and/or hegde their bets. If you're swinging for the fences, you gotta ride with Trey and make sure he either swims or sinks.

Trey already been rolling his eyes answering some of the Jimmy questions.

And I don't get why the heat is on him and not Kyle/Lynch who handpicked him? Its their responsibility to make sure the situation around him is great. They just resigned a qb who was incumbent and loved by the teammates, and they have a bunch of big question marks on the interior oline.

I never said he was someone to be feared. What I said was as of right now he's better than Lance even with him having the higher ceiling. The 49ers have playoff aspirations and the moment that Lance struggles is the moment that people will turn on him and ask to bring back in Jimmy G. Let's not act like that possibility is not there at all especially when we've seen similar situations previously.

You can say the same for almost every starter vs the rookie. The upside is why you make the switch like Alex Smith to Kaep.

As of right now he's better because he's played more games. Compare him to the field of QB's and he's just average so you make the move to the guy who can be better then that and maybe even elite.

These QB controversies are mostly fan and media narratives. They'll cut to Jimmy on the sidelines every time Trey misses a throw but none of that will matter if he does his job.

There's no need to baby these guys. Yeah, Jimmy is still on the roster but if you have any kind of dog in you it'll push you to be on point.

Now THIS, this gets me way more upset and worried than Jimmy on a 7 million dollar deal.

:smh:

Yeah, I'm way more worried about the o-line than Trey there are too many rookies. Banks, Burford, and I know Brendel is a vet but this is his first time as a starter. McGlinchey I heard came back today but he's coming back from a quadricep injury. Trent is the only surefire thing on the line.

Play well, win, and Jimmy holds a clipboard :yeshrug:

Doesn't need that kind of pressure. SF is the one place where they're always looking at the backup to start. Too much pressure IMO. This is a clusterfukk. They picked Trey 3rd overall. If he can't be an undisputed starter in year 2 then either he was picked too high or we fumbled in the development aspect. Not talking about a 2nd round pick here.

The heat's on all of em. If Lance is a bust then all three of em gone in a few years

Far as Jimmy to Seattle. I'm using that to illustrate that if Trey plays bad and the team struggles, he gonna feel the heat from the fans and the media regardless. But that particular scenario would cause a bigger meltdown than if he plays like trash and we lose with Jimmy on the roster, that's just a fact

The roster is what it is. You cut Jimmy tomorrow that's not getting you an All Pro left guard. You not getting a shutdown corner. You can maybe get a starting caliber camp casualty and you can still get that with Jimmy's restructure

Zero argument you can make that the team's better off in 2022 with Sudfeld as the backup over Jimmy except potential locker room shyt, but they made it clear Trey the man this year by keeping Jimmy out for camp. And Jimmy never gave off the vibes of someone who gonna be a problem or undermine the team

Exactly, Lance is being given the keys to a team that's expected to be a Super Bowl contender. Like, literally anything short of an NFC championship appearance gonna be considered a major disappointment. That's regardless of who the backup is

But somehow Jimmy being there is gonna make or break him. Dudes acting like Jimmy is Pat Mahomes or something. This fanbase been trying to run him out of town since the Super Bowl
He's gonna be treated that way. Jimmy fanboys are hella delusional.

They could've used part of this 25m to give the money to a pro bowl guard they just let go, no? People are worried about Banks, guess what? They could've paid Tomlinson and not worry about it.

If you can't handle the pressure of the backup QB then how can you handle the pressure of winning a championship? :mjtf:

If Trey is that dude he ain't worried. Jimmy will be there when he gets back on the sidelines to help him out. Be a mentor and a big brother but you can forget about seeing the field unless it's garbage time. It's my job because you weren't good enough to keep it.

I'm pulling up on Jimmy like:

They could have. It's irrelevant now because it's no longer an option. They have to make the call based on the current reality, not what they should have done 6 months ago.

And the Alexsexuals was still bytching 5 years after he was gone. These same fanboys, Grant Cohn and Mike Florio would be going on and on about what a bad call it was to take Lance over Fields and how they should have kept Jimmy if they cut him. Even clowns like Cohn, who been the top Jimmy hater out there, would reverse course and say they shoulda kept Jimmy

Only way for Trey to shut these dudes up is to play well and do what Jimmy couldn't, win a Super Bowl in
