Exactly, Lance is being given the keys to a team that's expected to be a Super Bowl contender. Like, literally anything short of an NFC championship appearance gonna be considered a major disappointment. That's regardless of who the backup is

But somehow Jimmy being there is gonna make or break him. Dudes acting like Jimmy is Pat Mahomes or something. This fanbase been trying to run him out of town since the Super Bowl
I mean I kinda get it, in the sense that a lot of Niners fans are fickle as fukk. Just remember the Alex Smith saga, dude was hated on for years, had 1 NFCCG season and then people became attached to the point of not wanted Kaep to take over :mjlol: so I can totally see morons asking for Jimmy after Trey has a couple of bad games (which are bound to happen).

But we are talking about Kyle Shanahan, a stubborn motherfukker that has clearly decided for Trey a long ass time ago, to the point he didn't even give Jimmy the fukking playbook :russ: so I'm fairly confident that even though talk online will be ruthless with Trey, Kyle wont be as fickle as fans (and like I said, that online talk was going to come for Lance's neck with or without Jimmy on the team) and he'll probably wait for an injury to make any sort of QB change.

And again, the OLine is gonna struggle at the very least the first 3-5 weeks of the season (probably gonna be the death of us this year anyway) so anyone that actually knows anything about football wont go "Jimmy can surely do better than this!" because they know he's a statue and with little protection he's gonna be food for opposing defenses. So no matter how much more accurate he is throwing the middle, how more "catchable" some his throws are or how fast his release can be, if he ain't getting protected, Jimmy wont be anyone's savior.

Jimmy G is an average QB. Let's not act like he's someone to be feared. The bar for Trey to keep the job is a lot lower than what Dak faced with Romo.

Trey Lance is essentially a rookie. You don't pull him the first time he holds the ball too long and takes a sack or misses a throw. The goal is to have him be solid but progress as the year goes on. He just needs experience.
I never said he was someone to be feared. What I said was as of right now he's better than Lance even with him having the higher ceiling. The 49ers have playoff aspirations and the moment that Lance struggles is the moment that people will turn on him and ask to bring back in Jimmy G. Let's not act like that possibility is not there at all especially when we've seen similar situations previously.

We have no idea how Jimmy looks coming back from surgery. Maybe he can't even throw past 10 yards now (he's been struggling for past 20 yards for years). And again, he's gonna look horrible out there if our OLine can't protect him.

A lot of fans are fukking morons anyway so who cares if they start chanting for Jimmy. They are the same that will chant for ANYONE at any given point. They would probably be chanting for Purdy if Lance looked rough out there and we were below .500 by midseason :mjlol:

What matters here is what Shanahans thinks and wants to do. He's shown time and time again he's very stubborn with his decisions, and he already decided for Lance so even if people are retarded online and at home games, I highly doubt he'll pull the trigger unless Trey is unplayable or injured, in which case, he should make a change no matter who is the backup.

And if Jimmy was gone and Trey struggles, team go 8-9, the same people wouldn't be calling him a bust and saying we should've kept Jimmy?

They cut Jimmy and he go to Seattle and they beat us week two, this fanbase not gonna meltdown? Especially if it's following a loss to Fields and the Bears?

Any time you got a first year starter on a team that's supposed to contend for a championship, there's pressure. A ton of it. If he's really that dude he'll gonna rise to the occasion

There's potential for this to cause weird vibes in the locker room and be a distraction, I said that a few pages back before they announced this. But also that I'd keep him a year on a restructure if he agreed to it. Up to Trey to take charge and dead the narrative

John gotta go. Make Kyle the GM
Kyle has shown to be a horrible talent evaluator so fukk no on giving him GM powers :scusthov:

Hell, Trey is his chance at redemption after a good number of fukk ups in the draft.

At least Trey wouldn't have to worry about looking behind his back the entire season. We've seen that type of situation before and it's naive to sit here and insist otherwise.

They gave up 3 first round picks for you. They giving you a top end roster. The expectation is championships. That's what he facing and if a QB Jimmy's caliber on the bench is too much pressure we got a lot bigger problems

:why: We can't be coddling a 3rd overall pick QB like he's terrycloth, we paid for a franchise QB. I can't imagine any elite QB with that scary mentality. shyt, he should be hoping Jimmy on his ass, that should motivate him. I wouldn't be surprised if Kyle doing this to sink or swim Trey, he dogged out BA last year and look at BA now. 49ers are a team with DOG mentality, ain't no soft ass QB leading this team :childplease:
