None of these new rappers are super stars

Snoop Dog is a superstar, DMX was a superstar, nikka went into blockbusters movies off the strength of his persona

none of the artist are superstars, they not 50 cent, they are not a brand outside of music, they are barely celebrities

people talking about Cardi B, SHE OLD, her era is over she was hot 4-5 years ago

she has not grown into a superstar that was on Rihanna level, not even close

Nikki Minaj career is over, she a non factor

Kendrick was never a superstar, he was a rap star, the general public have no idea who Kendrick Lamar is, Everybody even white Grandma's knew who Snoop Dog was, know who Jay-Z is, know who Eminem is, know who 50 Cent is, these are superstars

Rap no longer makes Superstars

Is it even possible to have a superstar as we knew it now? A big part of all those mentioned was media coverage (magazines, MTV, and so on), the machines behind them, a level of mystique and time to build up their personas. With everything being so fast and people consuming so much from their phone, it’s hard to see it ever being someone like them again.

It's really not possible. Reason being, people have Tiktok and what not. Anybody can go viral and be a star.

And Mt Rushmore of this era was supposed to be them and Lil Baby. Maybe Youngboy I don't think there a rapper the youngins fw more rn than him

Travis don't count as "this era" at all. He more of a tweener b/w that last era and this one. He was right in between both and you could argue THE bridge to the Drake/Cole/Kendrick era to what it been now. I mean he was droppin shyt like Upper Echelon with TI and Chainz and Quintana with Wale BEFORE the Heatles went b2b with Lebron and was on GTA V soundtrack....his first tape had Meek, Ferg, Wale, Paul Wall, Theophilus, TI, Chainz on it.... That not the featured guest list of a rapper from the era we in now

only true superstars are Lil Nas X, Post Malone and maybe Cardi B, but she's cooled off

which is all you need to know about the state of hip-hop, and the state of pop culture in general

Cardi dropped the ball big time. She still has time but she could have easily been one of the biggest in music overall. She had the black urban market, latino and she had crossover appeal to the white girls. Her music and first album was perfect. Idk what she's doing. She needs to drop this year

John 14:6
Doja, Travis, Lil Durk, Lil Baby, Cardi, Meagan

I think St. John could make a run soon.

:mjlol: at the bolded. They are not on a Nicki Minaj/Kendrick level mainstream wise. All hype in reality. Just because somebody talked about don't mean they're mainstream.

Lil Baby?

Close but not yet.

Breh was struggling with that arena/stadium tour and that's definitely a superstar caveat imo. He aint household, household like that yet.

nikkas are always looking to who the next superstar is instead of appreciating what we got now and the reason is because what is out now is largely garbage and disposable music

McDonalds rap...shyt that might taste good but requires little to no effort or skill

And no I'm not on some "rap = bad" shyt because I grew up listening to hip hop and it legit required TALENT back then

Nowadays some percocet dummy hops on a mid drill beat and all of a sudden is one of the faces of the culture
