So Lil Baby having a number 1 album for FIVE WEEKS and going triple doesn’t make him a superstar because he “only” did 200k first week? His album spent more weeks at number 1 than Cole’s album did.


We gotta really come up with solid metrics for what makes a “superstar” BEYOND First week numbers. Yes they are important but with the way streaming is set up there’s more to it now.

she has not grown into a superstar that was on Rihanna level, not even close

Kendrick was never a superstar, he was a rap star, the general public have no idea who Kendrick Lamar is, Everybody even white Grandma's knew who Snoop Dog was, know who Jay-Z is, know who Eminem is, know who 50 Cent is, these are superstars

Like I said we need new metrics for what constitutes a Hip Hop superstar nowadays. Things have changed even from Kendrick, Cole, and Drake's era. I don't have all the answers i'm just trying to add context to the conversation. What makes Lil Baby & Meagan Thee Stallion, despite their streaming numbers, heavy promotion, awards and general name recognition, NOT superstars compared to their predecessors?

…right after them was Rocky and then Keef but he self sabotaged his mainstream career ..Future, Thug Migos then Travis, Kodak, Xxx (rip). Youngboy, Lil Baby, Da Baby. Cardi, Doja, Meg. Durk worked his way from getting dropped back up there we’ll see wit his new album. And I forgot Uzi, Carti and Yachty I don’t think Yachty sells as well or if he has the hits like the others. But off the top of my head these have all been the top rappers as far as numbers and popularity wise from 2012 to now. Idk who I’m missing from the conversation.

Megan not hitting like that bruh, I'm sorry these hoe rappers can't hold a candle to Nicki in terms of sales and popularity, closest was Cardi. Baby and Gunna are hot but not on Lil Wayne, Jeezy, T.I. level, streaming can be misleading
