But I guess what I've been trying to convey is the idea that regardless of the messenger, every man (and woman) should have a certain personal integrity or standard that doesn't sway at every blow of the wind.

The golden rule would be a good start. Treat others (particularly black people) the way you want to be treated. Not just when you think that person deserves your respect.

Edited to add: and its not just an issue of whether a man thinks a woman is attractive or not. I hear men saying all the time, respect is earned. But why is that? Should we reserve our respect for non ratched folks? People with natural hair? Women who don't have tats? Where do we draw the line?
