This topic is hard to discuss because no matter what you say, both sides will feel attacked. The bottom line is that we don't stick together or support each other like other groups. A lot of us don't even bother to help one another unless we can benefit from it. I look at immigrants who come to the US and they legitimately stick together and defend each other. There is a sense of kinship even though they come from different countries and have never met each other before. We don't really have that. We tear each other down.

We treat people we find attractive better than we do people who aren't.

But when specifically talking about black men protecting black women that's simply not true and the events of these past few weeks are just the most recent reminders that it's not.

Black men have gone out of their way to protect black women and that has nothing to do with how attractive he finds her.

I disagree. It's easier to ignore and denigrate women you aren't attracted to. This isn't a black woman exclusive phenomena either. There are plenty fat or non-social fat chicks who see the true character (and lack thereof) of men when they hit on their hotter friends. I think men in general, black white whatever, need to do a better job standing up for women and protecting them. That means not defending your homies who rape or abuse women.
