Bron was better

He won 4 MVPs while Kobe was in the league

He carried a terrible Cav team for years while Kobe couldn’t even get out the 1st round until Jerry saved him by sending the Lakers Pau

This wasn't shot in 2009. They did this interview in 08 after the Olympics. 2009 was the year Lebron took the leap. He vastly improved. Especially on the defensive end. That was the first year I would he was as good or better than Kobe.

Exactly. We can go further back, too. Ppl were so awe of Kobe, that I remember Antoine Walker describing a 4th qtr explosion by Paul Pierce, as display "Kobeness". Kobe was in best player discussion by 2001. 03, he was wayy up there, too. Doug Collins and Bill Walton(RIP)used to openly marvel at Kobe on NBC broadcasts.
Kobe took the title as the best guard in 2001. Back in the early 2000s no one ranked guards over elite big men like Duncan and Shaq. Back then Duncan, Shaq and sometimes Garnett were usually ranked as the top 3. And Kobe would usually be in the 4th spot. Tracy was the other guy who used to be battling for a top 5 spot. In 2003 when Kobe went on his 40 point streak the best player in the game talk really started but Shaq and Duncan still had the edge. 2004 was a down year for both Kobe and Shaq. Duncan and Garnett were the ones who were fighting for that title. 05-06 season is when best player in the game talk really became serious with Kobe and midway through that season basically everyone had him as the number 1 player in the league.

He wasnt the clear cut best player in the league during that run. Not sure how citing the ships turned into that.
Interesting point of view. The consensus was that he was the best player from 05-08 and I’m saying extend that 2 more seasons because he was the best player in the postseason for back to back championships. I do understand and already stated that the majority were saying LeBron was the best player in those two championship runs. I’m just here to provide the facts to back up my claim that Kobe was the best player in the league still. NBA dropped the ball not making sure that Kobe/LeBron meet up in the Finals.

Imagine being the clear best player in the league for 15 and only having 3.25 chips, and those only came when you had Top 5 or multiple All-Star teammates :laff:
Better than Kobe :manny:

Uses MVPs won in 2012 and 2013 to prove that LeBron was better in the 2000s :russ:

We don't respect nikkas that had to go on tour around the league to win rings.

What kinda GOAT gotta do that?

Kobe created a dynasty in LA. Steph created a dynasty in SF. Jordan created a dynasty in Chicago. Bron ran.

But But Bron carried a terrible Cavs team. FOH :camby:

Cleveland had the best record in the league both years. FOH :camby:

All your doing with that argument is proving that the East was weak. You cannot have the best record then claim you had no help then also claim the East was tough. One of those things have to be false to explain how the #1 team collapsed both years. Lastly, both years in the West, you had teams over .500 not making the playoffs meanwhile in the East, 39 wins got you in :scusthov:

Someone on Reddit posted a link to the stats breaking down how 05-06 Kobe’s advanced stats were actually the craziest season of all-time. Wish I kept it.

I agree 2005-2008 Kobe was the best player imo.

Additionally, the “big deal” in 2008 was Kobe joining the Olympic team. They didn’t make that commotion over anyone else. People were thinking they were going to get embarrassed again before he joined.
