I remember when that shyt happened. Baldomier was on a hot streak and was the easier fight for the bigger reward being that it was for the lineal title, but Margarito was viewed as the bigger risk and the real goon of the division that nobody wanted to fight. All the real boxing heads wanted to see that bout. The only real reason Baldo got thrown in the mix was because he beat Zab and Gatti when he was really just brought in to lose. Nobody at the time was picking him to beat Floyd. You actually had heads thinking Margarito had a decent shot, and the Castillo fights were only a few years old at that point. Dude was like Castillo on steroids and was fukking nikkas like Six heads and Cintron up.
Floyd ducked Margarito, but he avoided Williams but the time line for that bout happening wasn;t as long an as open as it was for the Margarito bout.
I mean what would have stopped Floyd from beating Tonio and then giving Baldo that work. That's actually what people really wanted to see. Just like Sergio was the man at 160, but everyone knows GGG is the better fighter now and would have likely won if Cotto ain't get to dude first. Almost the same situation with Floyd, Baldo, and Tonio.
Nobody really gave a fukk about Margarito then stop rewriting history, Floyd caught serious flack for taking a Zab fight instead of facing the real champ and he was accused of being a duck, it wasn't no Margarito talk except from a few aliases on forums, after he dominated Baldamir and still caught flack, thats when he stopped giving a fukk
