The thing about Manny was that this ko was long overdue, it has nothing to do with him and Floyd or anything like that. He lacks some of the most basic of boxing fundamentals. Can't cut off the ring, adequate defensively. He was like Roy Jones and lived off of his athletic prowess. If there isn't any technique behind it, you will falter. Compare Jordan to when he came in the league dunking on everyone to when he was doing turnaround fadeaways on people. Still dominant, but you have to work on it. I don't think they ever did over at Top Rank. Floyd has adapted in the ring to his ability and I do believe, while getting older, the way he's preserved his body has benefited him. He's only 35, thirty six in February and he still has some great post prime fighting left.

Like Pacquiao didn't turn down a $40 million payday that he will never see. People talking about Floyd losing out on his payday, but Pacquiao took the much bigger loss. He could have lost to Floud for $40 million and maintained his status(nobody really expected him to be Floyd anyway), instead of losing to Marquez for probably less than half of that money. Floyd is still the biggest draw in boxing while Pacquiao has lost 2 in a row and is forced to rematch I guy that he can't really beat for the 5th time just to salvage his name. Floyd won, accept it.

A lot of the allure of the fight is based on people recognizing the names. People buy fights based on name recognition more so than W/L records or who they think can win. A Floyd/Pac fight would still do huge numbers and result in a record payday.

They both lost out on the greatest payday in pay-per-view history (plus the fact that Manny LITERALLY lost), it's just to the degree and who "needed" it more.

I kinda doubt either one is going to have to adjust their habits because of this situation, even though I guess they both are spending money as though they're going to die in six months.

Umm...Floyd is already part of the highest grossing PPV in history...looks like Manny lost out more than Floyd. At this point Manny can't even go to Arum and command his usual $20 million anymore. Its boxing. Stuff happens. There's no real guarantee that this fight would've broke ODLH vs Floyd record. People forget Oscar had the Olympics, plus a decade plus of garnering a fanbase that spanned from Americans, Mexicans, and women. That fight was lightning in a bottle.

You still don't get it. Cotto was in that fight because Floyd let him be. If Floyd decided to fight in his usual style he would have thoroughly dominated Cotto as he did everyone else. The fact that Cotto still didn't beat him despite Floyd letting it be a Cotto style fight shuts any argument Cotto would have. And you can't compare that fight with the Paq fight because Paq fought a Paq style fight and didn't give in to Cotto's strength.
