yet everybody agrees we look a lot alike as far as facial features and build(we both 6'3).

our grandpops and uncles are all this complexion

yet my mom and aunts on that same side are all as light skinned as me with the exception of one who is more like aaliyah's skin tone

he's right, in our fam we never even discussed skin tone differences ever. we have a light skinned grandfather and a dark skinned grandfather who both came up poor as fukk from the same stretch of country road. to us they were always both just dominican :manny:

Ok my point in asking is that a light skin person talking about whether dark skinned people encounter prejudice is ridiculous

I can tell u, and this is from my black grandpa's mouth, that he never encountered racism until he got to new York. Here he was just another n word but in DR he was a man of respect from all his peers no matter their complexion. All my uncles will probably tell u exactly the same.

Dominican Republic agrees to OAS migration inquiry

The OAS is sending a team to Santo Domingo after thousands of migrants left for Haiti in recent weeks.

The Dominican authorities say they left voluntarily after a registration programme for undocumented migrants expired.

But Haitian officials have accused the authorities of using force.

i get but my whole family from the Caribbean , you mean to tell me DR is the only place where there is no colorism :francis: .

i didnt say we didnt have any colorism. colorism is one thing and racism/systematic oppression of a group based on skin color only is quite another.

why is the poor in DR mostly darkskinned/black and the rich white/lightskinned then if there's no racism/opression based on skin color...................just like every other Caribbean nation :francis:

This is going to be the situation in every Country that has ever had slavery. I'm not saying the shyt never existed or that it isn't around in some form, but the day to day dark skinned dominican and light skinned dominican in DR don't have some racial tension between them based on skin tone because A. They both have family members of all shades and B. No matter the complexion they both identify with one another as Dominicans with the same exact culture. Like @NATU was saying, there's no "white music" and "black music" with us. It's all just dominican music. It's a different racial dynamic is what I'm saying.
