This is going to be the situation in every Country that has ever had slavery. I'm not saying the shyt never existed or that it isn't around in some form, but the day to day dark skinned dominican and light skinned dominican in DR don't have some racial tension between them based on skin tone because A. They both have family members of all shades and B. No matter the complexion they both identify with one another as Dominicans with the same exact culture. Like @NATU was saying, there's no "white music" and "black music" with us. It's all just dominican music. It's a different racial dynamic is what I'm saying.
my point is that DR isn't a magical place where all whites and blacks and everyone in between live in unity like yall painting it. there's discrimination based on skintone especially since yall have more variety in phenotype than other Caribbean nations. so basically i'm saying for a light/white skinned guy to say there's no colorism is ridiculous because someone in that position is not going through the same experiences as a dark skinned person. there's numerous examples of colorism in DR and across the Caribbean.

also i don't know why you are acting like only Dominicans have multiple shades in their family

Don't get emotional. Answer the question

:dahell: where'd you get emotional from?

Colorism exists everywhere but we being singled out for it and accused of racism. All impoverished Dominicans are treated the same regardless of skin tone. Among the rich it may be different but that's a very small minority.

My grandma saying "don't marry him because he has bad hair" is not the same as somebody's white grandma in the US saying "only marry other whites because we are superior and everybody else are inferior. White power". Colorism is bad but every single group in the black diaspora has that problem. These Koreans ain't out here selling weaves and blonde wigs to white women after all.

i asked dude if he was darkskinned because he claimed there's no racism or discrimination based on skin color among Dominicans in NY and in DR and then you're saying all Dominicans despite color are treated the same then you're saying it may be different among rich

which is it :mindblown:
