Immigration sweeps, eh?

That's an uncommon practice worldwide:troll:

:yeshrug:

They have a path to get their documentation.

If and when the DR enforces their law as long as they do it humanely its their sovereign right.

It's not like being born in Haiti automatically makes you a Haitian citizen, either

This is really not anything outrageous in the world
they don't do it humanely and there is no propper way to documentation because the bureaucracy is corrupt and inefficient and the deadlines were too tight. i already said, it's their sovereign right, but the country is outing itself as a backwards banana republic unfit for the 21st century.

DR isnt attracting them. ya acting like DR is a rich country. cant even take care of our own citizens properly and we under some moral obligation to take care of haitians too?
yes they are. the DR wants/needs Haitians as low cost laborers (for the tourist areas and bateyes) just like the US and Mexicans/Central Americans. and need i remind that this law affects your own citizens too

the DR has a very long history of wanting to whiten the country...yall whole national identity was born on being nonblack/nonHaitian

DR
these people are not illegal. how would you react if the us constitutional court made a decision that meant that hundreds of thousends of us citizens with dominican heritage were stripped of their citizenship and to be deported?

if we talking revoking status from haitian-dominicans born to legal parents then im with u. but this isnt that.

i know our history and i know all about trujillo, but that whitening shyt is no longer the case. yea there are many racist dominicans and colorism exists within my people i wont deny it. a lot of us are fukked up in the head racially because we never had a black power movement out there and racial identity has never made it far up on list of priorities for the day to day trying to survive dominican, but at the government level it isnt about whitening the country.

its about corrupt politicians deflecting the blame on our economy onto haitians instead of attacking the real problem which is corruption. i personally dont blame the haitians for anything, its our shytty fukking leadership just like haitis shytty fukking leadership. its not a black and white issue its a green issue.
if there wasn't a race issue, it couldn't be used to deflect from corrupt and inefficient leadership. also, danilo was not in favor of this idea, it's a specific group in the dominican elite that pushed for it.

there's a anti-haitianismo issue, but you know how many dark skinned as fukk dominicans there are in DR? if it was about whitening there would be some black ass dominicans out there getting killed too. this isnt puerto rico. dominicans are black. idk how its even possible to whiten it.

and yea that specific group wants to deflect attention from itself as much as possible. i know it isnt danilo's mission. dominican presidents are usually puppets for the elite just like everywhere else.

we had 1 psycho dictator who tried this. not no long history of trying to whiten. again, this is how ya rationale works. like a game of telephone. everybody has to add just 1 thing extra to make it more interesting.

and no it isnt DR that needs haitians as low cost laborer. the average dominican isnt some captain of industry, henry ford type trying to find cheap labor. there's cheap labor all over DR from actual dominicans. its those wealthy mostly euro-dominican scum that keeps bringing them in to enslave them.

i'm not going to argue with your over facts, all three of the Spanish Caribbean islands have long histories of trying to whiten themselves. Don't believe me go do your own research and i'm not talking about just Trujillo

and don't be a dumbass, first you say DR doesn't need Haitians as laborers and then you say the most Euro-Dominican scum bring them in? why you think that is? You think Haitians go to DR just for the hell of it? Do you understand how economics and migration work? Haitians move to DR because of the demand for cheap unskilled labor in DR and the promise of jobs. You guys don't want Haitians? Then start employing your own people and work with the Haitian government

"On November 29th the president, Danilo Medina, decreed that all undocumented foreigners have 18 months, during which they cannot be deported, to register with the authorities. Applicants who show “unquestionable” ties to the country, such as studying or working there, speaking Spanish, having native relatives and owning property, will be eligible for residency. The government also plans to introduce a naturalisation law, which it says will offer a quick path to citizenship for these people."

Such and oppressive people

They're literally rounding up Haitians and people who look Haitian on busses and driving them out of the country.

:francis:

Is that really accurate? How can they tell the difference between a black Haitian and a black Dominican?
