Pressure the gov. of the Dominican Republic to stop its planned "cleaning" of 250k black Dominicans

the goal was 100k by july 16th,it's over 75k already. i only sign these petitions to help them get a response because i want to see what the white house has to say. i hope haiti rejects them and say they weren't born here so we don't have to accept them.

I've read anecdotal accounts of that happening. But then there's this:

Deputy Minister of Interior and Police , Washington González , warned yesterday that the document delivered by the Haitian Embassy in the country as an " Identity Card " to its nationals only serves as an Acknowledgment (of receipt).

He said the Dominican government is committed to accepting this Acknowledgement, understanding that the authorities of the neighboring country(Haiti) will eventually complete the necessary documentation. This, because of the customary complaint of Haitians about the slow delivery of documents by the authorities of their country (Haiti).

"We've reached an agreement with the Haitian Embassy," said the coordinator of the National Plan of regularization of foreigners , " they would deliver an Acknowledgment , and with that Acknowledgment we would organize them (the applicant files) separately until Haiti completes their documentation" he said.

Biden praised the Dominican president for enacting legislation to create a path to citizenship for people of Haitian descent born in the Dominican Republic, describing it as a "bold step that required bold leadership."
