:whoa: Slow down breh, heaven forbid we as tax paying citizens ask what he is doing for our community. We should never ask a president for anything like every other group/class has. They don't know yet but he's got a whole country to run.
Nobody is saying we shouldn't expect anything from our president but we need to organize, decide what we want and work with him to make it happen. If we had a black lobbyist group in Washington that pushed Obama and Congress to pass legislation we wrote to fix problems in our community we might get somewhere. Coming online bytching about things not being done without being able to verbalize what we want done doesn't help anyone.

Are you suggesting that black people were doing better under the Presidency of the man who directly preceded the Presidency responsible for the introduction of crack cocaine to urban communities as well as mass incarceration of colored people over ridiculous drug laws? And CONTINUED that platform?

And better than the years under the man who admitted (like 3 weeks ago) that his views on the drug laws and the prison industry were wrong and did more harm than help...specifically to minorities (BLACK PEOPLE).

And better than the years under the man who was was at the helm during one of the worst economic downturns in this country's history, which DEFINITELY affected black people and families??? The downturn that OBAMA had to help clean up???

- lower unemployment for blacks
- higher percentage of black home owners
- higher networth
- lower poverty rates

i'm not saying bush sr, clinton and jr were great presidents for blacks. i'm saying all the stats point towards blacks losing more than we've gained in the last 7 years. you can blame policies from the previous presidents, but our current president has done jack shyt to ix those problems

honestly, i believe his presence alone has caused a severe racial backlash. so while we're taking the hit for obama, hes done absolutely nothing for us.

What other group beyond straight white men has had"one of their own" in the white house? Besides which his hands have been tied and he's been fighting hard for everything he has done with push back from Congress every step of the way. The reason he has had more success helping these other groups is that these other groups had specific requests/demands and were organized to fight with him to get things done.

You state that he could have pushed for things to remove barriers based in racism keeping some of us down. What specific thing could he have done? What law could he have created or removed? What did you want put in place to help the black community as a whole?

has obama fought for AAs though? it's one thing to try and get blocked, but has obama even tried? seems to me like he's too scared of whites to even address anything beneficial for blacks.

so if the argument is there's no actions or policies obama could make to help blacks, then why are we wasting our time voting in presidential elections?

some of what i would have liked to see obama push for:

Like what? Reparations?

would start with

- racial income equality--we hear so much about white women getting paid less, yet they still earn more than black men.
- black unemployment--implement policies that'll help put blacks back to work, earning a livable wage
- police brutality--mandatory body cams, if the cam is turned off or view is obstructed; automatic manslaughter charge for the cop
- underfunded public schools--implement policies that'll insures no prisons are constructed while schools are being shut down.

Poor people and the working class are suffering as a whole and it's not because he is in office, it's Congress' refusal to agree with Obama on ANYTHING. The laws have always been geared toward the wealthy and any time shyt jumps off, the working class suffers. This isn't new so why are you making it an Obama thing?
unemployment for whites has shrunk, they're bouncing back from the recession. you cant say the same for black folks. i'm making it an obama thing because its happening on his watch and its already late into his second term.

I really don't think you understand politics in this country or the job of the President.

You're saying Obama has not done shyt to fix the problems of the previous presidencies...I mean that's just straight up not true from the wars in the Middle East to the Global Financial Crisis a few years back to "Obamacare" which is being attacked as we speak.

And again your worldview seems very narrow just based on the suggestions you made at the end there.

Your ideas function on the position that Obama can just wave his hand and make magical shyt that he does not have control over simply take place.

I actually agree with a lot of that. My main issue is a lot of times people do see a problem, they get shut down before ideas can even be formulated. People say they don't see Obama doing enough, a lot of times the response is he got a whole country to run, quit whining, he better than what we had before, etc. We can't even get to talking about plans and what we need for the community because a lot don't want to challenge him. I personally don't think he is doing a bad job but I want to walk out of 2016 getting the most from him that we can and not just a historic win. He even stated some years back to the BCC that if they wanted something, they need to challenge him for it. Well we need to start doing that or in a couple of years we will have wasted an opportunity.

I just want to bash these ACTUAL c00ns heads in. It's one thing those out of touch cacs talking nonsense, but seeing blacks get on TV and say the same or even worse, makes my blood boil. And idiots want to call the President a c00n. No, these are the actual c00ns. Another example was the preacher who gets on Fox and says the shooting in SC wasn't racially motivated.
