You think the BD drive accounts for $100 worth of materials?? It's probably one of the cheaper components compared to the RAM, CPU, and proprietary SSD drive. Hell the controller costs more than the BD drive.

I guess I’m looking at it the other way. If console costs ~400 to make, including the drive, then the bd drive is a smart, cheap way to scale the product line.

499 with disk drive make profit and you don’t have to add anything additional to the BOM.

Manufactures over charge for cheap shyt all the time to make money back on stuff.

That's all conjecture, for all we know the bill of materials of the console without the optical drive may be $475 or $499

regular is 4k bluray with 1tb
digital edition is 2tb

july gonna drop PS4 to 249...

ps3 dropped at 599 and ps4 for 399 .... i say 499 for ps5.

if the diskless has the same hd of 1tb .. then 499 and 449 respectively
