You're a fukking moron if you don't realize that the President has little to no power over gas prices. The federal government only owns a small part of the oil fields in the US, most of them are private property.
Energy is a global market, even OPEC doesn't have full control over gas prices and they are literally a cartel of oil producing countries.

I agree with you that the border states have a disproportionate butden, but the main reason that immigration is a shytshow in this country is because Congress refuses to act.
The same Republicans who were against reforming the immigration system under both the W and Obama Administration cry about the ills of a system that it is not in their political inclination to fix.
Congress's failure to act is the root cause of this issue, the action or inaction of any part of the Executive branch might exacerbate the problem but is tangential to the root cause.
