Polls have been showing for a minute now that even Republican voters don't care about all this culture war shyt and find it a distraction from the real issues.
Which makes sense when you look at how big the rural-urban divide is in politics now. Why would a voter in a rural county in PA, OH or IN care about trans women in the bathroom when their town only has about 1,000 people in it, and none of them are openly trans?
The only reason Republican politicians are able to get away with this shyt is because they know their base will still vote for them out of pure party loyalty.
