This is what happens within a cult movement and when an entire party hitch their wagon to a cult leader. Desantis needs trump supporters
vote in the primary and general but He can't aggressively attack the cult leader without alienating the base and he also
can't make it out of the primary by being timid. lose lose situation for the floridian fascist

Funny that suddenly Trump’s lies, bad staff, and questionable fundraising are suddenly problems for republicans. They couldn’t have cared less and defended all of this for four years.
:mjlol:

They sound scared to me. Trump isn’t falling in the polls, and DeSantis hasn’t shown any ability to defend himself. Now the question becomes: will the rest of the party allow another primary circus where 16 people run for president, thus allowing Trump to win with 30% of the vote? This is gonna be hilarious. And when Trump wins they’ll be back on board defending him.

Even if the primary is just Trump, Haley, DeSantis, Pence, Trump wins.

2024 is where this all ends. GOP is favored to win the Senate. Trump may end up costing them the House, Senate and white house all in the same election year. Then you'll see the establishment GOP party turn on him for good after defending him all through the 2024 election cycle.

The dangerous thing for republicans is that this is probably Trump's last hurrah, so coming out against him after a 2024 loss would be pointless. They need to stop him now, before he fukks up their best shot at complete control of Washington. But they won't. In fact, if he wins the nomination they will revert back to quietly supporting him and hoping for a win.

Maybe Trump gets hit with something he can't talk his way out of. Maybe DeSantis flips the switch and becomes the guy republicans pretend he is. But I doubt it. This is looking more and more like a Trump landslide primary, followed by him getting destroyed in a general election.

I just think it's pure magical thinking to assume that Trump will somehow weather these legal storms, win Iowa in January and steamroll the field to secure the nomination 15 months from now.

It just seems way more realistic that the eventual nominee is on the sidelines right now waiting for the smoke to clear before jumping in.

I honestly don't think a crowded primary is an issue for the Republicans in 2024. Everyone outside of Trump and DeSantis will get 1-2% each (and they will likely drop out after the first few primaries).

He still lost. Why would trump be scared of a bunch of people he beat or has already all the inside information on? Cruz folded once trump ran up on him & he bowed out. Desantis is finished. He can't hit Trump with the corruption angle without being labeled liberal. Can't use covid because he followed Trump's lead, what economic policies is he going to provide? The only thing he talks about is "woke". Good luck with that against Trump let alone a general election. He'll be on Fox just like Huckabee in 4 years. All trump is going to say is why go for the imitation when you can have the real thing.

Trump cost them the House, Senate, and White House in 2020 and Republicans decided to double down on their bullshyt. The MAGA agenda is cocaine for Republicans; they've become fiends and can't quit it.
