I always thought Bettis was overrated, he's nowhere near Top 20 for me. He was slow and had no moves other than duck his head and truck people. He got in Canton off the strength of being a great Steeler, but isn't an All-Time back...

Cats get mad when I call LT "Diet Faulk" but his playoff no-shows are a big reason why. I do give him the respect as a Top 10 guy but his regular season play did not translate to the playoffs...

šŸ˜† at last four names...

This thread was inspired by that HOF thread where dudes kept bringing up Gore when no one suggested he was a Famer. It pissed me off, I'm just mentioning Gore for anyone who thinks he deserves Canton...
You can make the same case about Faulk's numbers not translating as well. Besides 2001, he had a forgettable playoff resume. When the Rams won it all in '99, he didn't even have 100 rushing yards total in their three playoff games.

On the whole, I don't put a lot of emphasis on playoff performance for running backs. They're by far the easiest players to shut down in a single game situation, especially if they have mediocre QB play. It enhances if they do have some big games but I don't hold it against them if they don't.

I forgot to give Fred Taylor an honorable mention for being a top five most talented back I've ever seen. He had some injury issues early in his career but if he played for the Steelers or Cowboys he woulda been a household name.

He was incredible

But let it be known that Adrian Peterson is the most explosive RB in football history.

Damn, no Jamal Lewis? Hes the only reason Browns became watchable in the mid 2000s after his stint in BAL.

Hes only one of 8 backs to rush for 2k in a season.

I'm going to go with the guys I saw watch live during my lifetime. In no particular order...

Adrian Peterson
Barry Sanders
LaDainian Tomlinson
Marshall Faulk
Terrell Davis
Emmitt Smith
Chris Johnson
Edgerrin James
Fred Taylor
Eddie George

I was really tempted to include Marshawn Lynch & Steven Jackson on the list too. Both were underappreciated.

I still remember Dillon breaking the single-game rushing record. He and Fred Taylor played for some sorry ass teams, they'd be in Canton if they played for better teams...

Since tapping into the Pivot pod, I've been going back and watching Fred Taylor highlights... and that man was the absolute truth.

I forgot Fred Taylor

He was incredible

But let it be known that Adrian Peterson is the most explosive RB in football history.

I was telling dudes at work earlier this week that Derrick Henry has a chance to be a better version of AD. He's bigger and just as explosive, stronger, more reliable hands. Henry was going for back-to-back 2000 yard seasons had he not gotten hurt last year...

It's difficult for alota people to acknowledge we're watching possibly the greatest back ever forming in front of us, in Henry. But he needs to extend his prime the way AD did, Peterson had nearly a decade-long run of absolute elite play. That's what it will take from Henry, barring injury, he's going to have a Top 5 impact on this game at his position...

Fully expect an AD-esque rebound from Henry this year, like '12 and '15 Peterson coming off his injuries...

He was a bruiser but not one of the All-Timers...

Thread is titled "your top 10 RBs".
nikkas mentioning some RBs that are on the same level of Lewis. I mean the nikka posted all 1k+ seasons except for one season and his last season he played only 12 games.

U think he has a strong case

Thread is personal GOATs, not who I consider all time GOATs.

BTW, do you even know who they are? Have you ever seen them play?

- Adrian Peterson is bar none Top 5
- Charlie Garner is the closest we will ever see to Barry Sanders style
- Napolean Kaufman was extremely quick, fast and strong (about 190lbs but max bench press was over 400lbs). Too bad he retired early to join a Monastery.
- Barry Foster is one of the greatest RBs people never heard of. AP reminds me of him.

Barry Sanders
Emmitt Smith
Thurman Thomas
LaDainian Tomlinson
Marshall Faulk
Adrian Peterson

Last one is a toss-up between Shady McCoy, Jerome Bettis, Marshawn Lynch, Derrick Henry, and someone else Iā€™m probably embarrassingly missing
