i usually work out first thing in the morning or after work so my post workout meals are breakfast or dinner.

most common meals are-

breakfast:
4 whole eggs + 2 egg whites scrambled w olive oil and millk
1.5 cups of steel cut oatmeal
banana

dinner:
.75-1lb of some kinda protein (usually chicken breast, fish or steak)
1 cup brown rice
some kinda veggies sauteed w olive oil and garlic

i'll get some pics up in here

It is recommended to eat simple carbs post workout to quickly replenish your body with glucose it expended during your workout to give you energy. This can be done with a substance like dextrose or with foods high on the glycemic index like certain fruits.

It's best to take a whey protein shake with water and maybe eat some fruit as a post workout meal to quickly give your muscles protein and replenish energy, or you could kill two birds with one stone and mix your whey protein with Gatorade powder and just have that post workout.

These dudes posting extravagant meals containing complex carbs are hustling backwards, your muscles are in a state of recovery and growth post workout, you gotta get them protein and glucose asap. You should eat a solid meal like an hour after that initial post workout shake/fruit.

where are you guys getting all this? no offense but that seems like way too much nerd science

lol what's nerd science about feeding your muscles as quick as possible when they're in a state of growth and repair? Your body expends glucose to give you energy during your workout, so the smart thing to do is to replace the glucose as soon as possible post-workout to maximize recovery... putting some dextrose in your post workout shake or eating some fruit with a high glycemic index to quickly boost your blood sugar levels isn't fukkin rocket science, and it's a hell of a lot easier than making some of these 3 course meals post workout that contain complex carbs (which are broken down far more slowly)

If you were thirsty as fukk, would you prefer a glass of water right away or a big ass block of ice that you first had to let melt before you could drink the water from it?

The "recovery window" isn't some on-off time slot that lasts a couple hours.

Post workout carb GI rating is largely irrelevant in most situations.
