It's more of it's own thing. If I had to choose a region, I'd say it's more Southwest than traditional South.

I've heard people call Texas a "Great Plains" state like Nebraska.

Maybe true up by the Panhandle because they get real snow up there. Rest of the state :russ:

I see why this question was asked because just because a state is in that region doesn’t mean it fits culturally

Michigan is a Midwestern state regionally but compared to Kansas ,Iowa and the Dakotas it’s a different planet ..Hell even compared to Indiana and it’s right next door

Texas is ...Texas

The Deep South is extremely patriotic and Texas be on some fukk y’all we can survive on our own shyt sometimes

But if I had to choose I’d say yes but I understand if they said naw

To me, when I think of the south I only think of the southern states on the east coast (Virginia, NC/SC, GA and Florida)

I never been to the inland southern states :manny: But I been to all the southern states I - 95 pass though

I consider Texas an Midwestern state since it's in the middle of the country, just at the bottom.

@Pigeon in the future I don’t think VA will even be considered South anymore like Maryland.

Many southerners feel like they’re already in the east coast when they are there.

The DMV portion of Virginia feels very Northern.
It’s wild how that works out considering VA gave birth to the South...literally, culturally, etc.

People question it now IMO because the urban areas, particularly the parts that are associated with DC, skew most people’s perception. I don’t see rural VA ever not being Southern.
