I know two people from Texas personally and they consider themselves southerners.

Texas is South by Southwest like the festival in Austin. There's no way someone can drive through Houston and East Texas and not feel like they're in the South. And there's no way someone can drive through El Paso and West Texas and not feel like they're in the Southwest. Therefore Texas is both. End of story. I have spoken.

In the Silver Lining
Southcentral or Southwest

Either way it's the south.

Did my map shyt.

Imagine a fictional state existed that went from NYC at northern border to Atlanta at it's southern border, that's 831 miles.
  • It would be like asking is that a northern or southern state, either way it's a fictional East Coast state.

In Texas, El Paso on the western extreme to Beaumont on eastern extreme is 863 miles.

Right! Anybody trying to put Texas in one region is a fool. Texas is too damn big to be definitively just Southern or just Western. Anybody who's driven East to West through the state and seen the drastic shift in culture, accents, climate, demographics and foliage knows Texas is alot of things rolled up into one.

Facts. Texas is huge. El Paso is also dumb far from Houston/Dallas and feels more related to Arizona.

Yep....El Paso is closer to California than it is to far East TX.

Far West TX is like New Mexico. Dallas/Houston is the south. Now once you towards the Valley past San Antonio....that's just north Mexico basically.

I wonder how many cities would be in different regions if states didn’t exist.

For example Western New York (Buffalo and Rochester) are midwestern cultured cities.

this midwestern dude on my Facebook was making jokes about the east coast targeting Upstate Ny.

The idiot doesn’t realize Buffalo is only a 3 hour drive away from Cleveland, a 4 hour drive from Detroit, while being a 6-7 hour drive from NYC.

People in H-town will call DFW, south Oklahoma.

Dallas will get that Okie feel if you go far enough into the northern burbs (north of Frisco/Allen).
