Yea, there’s black rodeos all throughout the Deep South. I know of some in MS, AL, and FL. Here in GA, I used to frequent Home Depot often for supplies to maintain my home. Everytime id go in there on a Saturday morning, I’d run into these 4 Black “cowboys” who were there either buying material for their farm, or other household items. They’d be decked in worn cowboy boots and 10 gallon hats.
It was funny, because everytime I’d have a conversation with them, they’d let me know they were just here in the city for supplies. Their farm was out in the sticks somewhere.
And the Great Migration brought black cowboy culture up to Chicago. Obviously not as big as anywhere in the south but there is a thriving subculture here.
I already knew it was Southern. But it took me to actually come to the area to see how Southern Virginia really is. Outside of NOVA (and this is decent too because NOVA was just like the rest of VA), Virginia is absolutely Southern, facts, when I see people talking about VA ain't the South, Im like

You right. There are degrees to it. Texas to a little extent goes through the same thing. But it’s not surprising. Both states are border states. The degrees of southern-ness though bruh, you know I Cape hard for VA lol. The whole state is southern but the Big 3, yes including Rich and Tidewater, aren't quite as southern as anywhere south of Virginia...
Tidewater is the most southern of the three though!
Southern VA and Central VA feel about as Southern as anywhere else I've been.facts, when I see people talking about VA ain't the South, Im like

West Coast blues - WikipediaThe West Coast blues is a type of blues influenced by jazz and jump blues, with strong piano-dominated sounds and jazzy guitar solos, which originated from Texas blues players who relocated to California in the 1940s.[1] West Coast blues also features smooth, honey-toned vocals, frequently crossing into urban blues territory.
The development of a West Coast blues style was predominantly the result of the migration of a large number of African Americans to the West Coast during World War II. The people that came seeking employment in California’s wartime industries brought their musical preference with them and new entertainment districts that catered to African Americans soon sprang up 0r enlarged. Within a few years, Central Avenue in Los Angeles, West Oakland and North Richmond were the sites of important nightclubs districts that served predominantly African American audiences. Most of the new immigrants came from the Southwestern states (Louisiana, Texas, Arkansas and Oklahoma) and musicians were among their ranks. However, the rail lines that carried the migrants to Los Angeles (as the entry point to the West Coast) had been carrying musicians from the Southwest to L.A. for more than a decade before the start of World War II. Drawn by an established jazz scene and the lure of the movies, Southwestern musicians had begun to influence the musical culture of the West Coast by the mid-1930s.
The urbanization of ATL and the decrease of Southern Shotgun style homes in ATL, isn't much of an indication of it's decrease of its Southern culture. The architecture of Atlanta is very common in the Upper South and Piedmont. ATL is very similar to Charlotte. Both cities are just culturally in tune with the South as Houston is.
The reasoning for this, was because of Texas trying to dissociate from Ante bellum history via cattle herding and cattle trails. Being a "Cowboy" was looked down upon by Southern aristocrats back East. After the civil war, heading towards texas and the lower Midwest was the logical thing to do for many freed slaves, poor whites and others. All of a sudden, cattle driving was the "in" thing. That's where the romanticism of the cowboy came into play in subsequent years and in the years after reconstruction. Romanticism of "The West" and new beginnings became associated with Texas, Cattle Driving, and oil. But alot of the cowboy culture also derived from the Vaquero culture. From Mexico and from Spain before that. Even older Cowboy lingo like "Buccaroo" is the b*stardized version of "Vaquero". Florida was a Spanish colony. And alot of the architecture from that era remains. The crackers were influenced by the Spaniards..
