read an article about them in the recent Texas Monthly. don't know if it was the creole trail though, it was the one from PV down to the Houston Rodeo

Place were my grandparents settled when they left st laundry la. Also the birthplace of zydeco music(despite wiki's misinformation).
Hell yeah. They just had one on homestead at the beginning of the rodeo before the coronavirus pandemic. I spun through there.
This was this year's I THINK for mlk day. But, I'm not entirely sure(the dates seem to align).
SETX ie Houston metro + Golden Triangle is the origin of the marriage between trailrides, soul, & zydeco music, and creole & bbq foods. Basically AA East TX and Southern Louisiana cultural fusion.
It's common all over TX and LA today though.

Zydeco is the result of the melding between la la, down home tx blues, and urban peacock record style R&B. Of which you'd mostly only find in houston.
