I don't want Sony to fail...I loved my PS1 and PS2 and have never bought a XBOX. But how is a console with that infrastructure going to be less then 600?

PS3 was 600 for a reason.

It was Blu-Ray(Which was dreadfully expensive in 05/06) and the Cell processor(Exotic, complicated hardware) that drove the price of PS3 up.

PS4 will be using off the shelf PC parts and Blu Ray drives are cheap now. There is no exotic hardware that will drive the price up to such a point.

People are estimating that the PS4's Bill of Materials is around the $400-450 range, not including labor and R&D. The most expensive part obviously being the RAM they are using. You can take away the some of the costs due to Sony more than likely having a bulk discount on the materials.

With that being said, I still think the baseline unit will be $399. But Sony isn't exactly in a great financial position right now (better than they were, but still not that good), so it may be 450-499. They already stated they are not even considering the PS3 launch price but still....

As you play Second Son, you’ll explore lots of Seattle’s familiar landmarks. As with all games in this series, the path the gameplay and story take will depend on the decisions you make along the way. Of course, we are creating all these characters and locations at a remarkable level of detail – made possible by PS4. In fact, this trailer was produced in-house using our game engine – can you tell we’re having fun with the new GPU, tools, and our new VFX system?
:ohlawd:

Anybody having doubts should remember all infamous games trailers use the in game engine. I never seen a trailer for those games using CGI.

Sony owns 12 studios that only make PlayStation games, and it should come as no surprise that many of those studios are focused on making PlayStation 4 games. But in a conversation with IGN, President of Sony’s Worldwide Studios Shuhei Yoshida – the man basically calling the shots for every PlayStation exclusive – confirmed that every studio in Sony’s stable is making PlayStation 4 games.

The question posed to Yoshida was simple: “Is it fair to say that all of the first party studios are working on PS4 games?” Yoshida’s answer was just as simple: “Is it fair or not fair? It is fair to say.”

An abundance of classics are about to be released.

and nikkas were trying to get at me for saying we'd have photorealistic graphics by 2025 :russ:

2025 might be a conservative estimate considering how fast technology is advancing :ahh:
