As usual some of you are conflating “digital” with “streaming”

Owning a game/movie and digitally storing it on your local drive is just as safe (even more so) as physical media.

These people are losing the ability to stream content.
Nah, the content is removed even if you have downloaded it.

They physically can’t remove content from your local hardrive just like they can’t walk in your home and take discs
They removed the ability to download content. You’ll only be able to play that content on the authorized device at the time that ability was taken away.

The moral of the story is don’t buy movies and TV shows on proprietary devices like a PlayStation. That way your content won’t be trapped on a PS3.

I’m sure when they removed that capability people had ample notice.

The moral is, to preserve your digital content just like you would physical.

You are not entitled to their servers.

They bought that content under different conditions than it is available now. When they bought it the content could be downloaded and moved around. In the end they lost the ability to both download and move the content.

Even if they preserved it doesn’t change the fact that no new devices can be authorized to play the content trapping it on outdated hardware.

They should at the very least be issued partial refunds. A decent company would do that. When Google shut down Stadia and people lost access they refunded everyone.

That's strange. You can download delisted games if you own them on Xbox. Delisted just means they can't sell it, not that it doesn't work
Multiple people have reported they can't redownload from their 360 library. Microsoft never gave answers on why the reason why.

I don’t disagree.

As we move into the digital world things like this will happen less.

I will say that games and movies are different in this context.

Games are developed for the platform you buy them on, so there is no presumption that you will be able to play them on different hardware. Movies/tv shows presumably should work on any hardware.

But yeah, sony should offer some type of compensation for the change of terms and rights for the user.

Idk what to tell you. I know for a fact I have multiple delisted games (like all the Forza) and can redownload them..

I also googled and Microsoft says look in your purchase history on the website and you can redownload them.

My bad for not believing a random ass blog quoting an anonymous source from almost 7 years ago. I'm sure you can Google and find more recent posts about people playing delisted games.

If I'm wrong, I'm wrong, but I can literally show you me playing a delisted game and you can find tons of videos of people doing the same lmao

How's that working out for people who are trying to preserve their copy of the PT demo (Silent Hills)?

Like any other game if you wanna keep it, you gotta keep up with it.
The idea of a consumer having every single digital game they've ever purchased on all consoles on digital ice so to speak is laughable. I know you say this but somehow I doubt you have hundreds of TBs of games on many different hard drives with list of what hard drives contain what games and what account they're tied to attached to the drives.

Your argument unravels any convenience of digital purchases. This is like telling consumers they better get a lawyer and get the EULA of every item they purchase explain to them. Theoretically sounds proper in execution next to nobody does it.
