The idea of a consumer having every single digital game they've ever purchased on all consoles on digital ice so to speak is laughable. I know you say this but somehow I doubt you have hundreds of TBs of games on many different hard drives with list of what hard drives contain what games and what account they're tied to attached to the drives.

Your argument unravels any convenience of digital purchases. This is like telling consumers they better get a lawyer and get the EULA of every item they purchase explain to them. Theoretically sounds proper in execution next to nobody does it.

Why is holding a HDD full of games laughable but holding on to hundreds of discs is not?

It’s still more convenient to have a HDD full of games than to keep up with a room full of discs.

I do not have hundreds of TB of games saved. But i do know in the event that i need to preserve all the games that i’ve purchased, I can put them all on a drive and keep them forever.

Because the disc organize themselves to an extent. I can look at the box on the shelf and know what the game is for what system. I don't have to worry about it being tied to an account. I simply need a place to store them.

A hard drive doesn't specify what games it stores for what system and what account. People don't buy digital games to have to do the kind of work you're suggesting they do. They buy digital so they don't have to do anything but plug up the device sign in and have it download the game.

If they have to spend all this money on massive amounts of storage so they can categorize and maintain it buying physical makes that a more simple task less expensive task.

Is simple and convenient.

And this:

It's pretty clear and obvious at this point that physical media is the way to go. Best Buy's annoying smh

I just wish I liked Plex's interface more, but I plan to buy a new, high budget PC for my living room and when I do I'll probably start having Plex be my main media server
There’s no reason to compromise. Use plex, jellyfin, or emby to manage and serve your media and use whatever media player you want (Apple TV, Android TV, etc.) to watch it. There are a bunch of options out there.

I got a Synology Nas server during black Friday. Gonna be a while to get the right drives for itbut it’ll be worth it just to avoid things like this.

There's no defending this, just an awful anti consumer practice. Delisting is one thing, pulling it from libraries is absolute bullshyt.

There are advantages and disadvantages to physical. My rule is, if I paid for it once be it digital or physical, I can "download" again whenever I want with no guilty conscience as I feel I fulfilled my ethical obligation by purchasing it once

Stealing is when you allegedly buy something from a company and they take it away from you with no compensation. They took your money and you get left with nothing. You suffered loss and they get to keep your money. They get to dress up their theft in a "contract" and dance around it but we all know it's unethical and indefensible. It can't be helped because that's the way the world works though. It was licensed and that was revoked.

The effects of industry consolidation :francis:
No company with a digital store should agree to terms that allow something like this to happen. When license terms are negotiated they should be done in a way that protects their customers. At the very least offer account credits to impacted customers for some pro-rated amount. The fact that these customers are losing this stuff is less problematic than the fact that the company that sold it to them is shrugging their shoulders and acting like they can't do anything to make this right.
