better off doing the vinyl wrap for any parts but the grill, emblems or rims. I did the hood, roof and trunk on my whip with the help of my friend in my own garage. came out fresh. :scusthov: dip'n the whole car.
you don't gotta worry about messin up the paint on your whip or doin any other type of damage. And its painless to switch up colors whenever you want.

I platidipped the grill and wheels of my CLS63. It held for 2 years and looked decent. I want to wrap the roof of my GS350. Is it something I can do myself? Is it hard? What's the best film to use?

I have a 2006 STS-V. i use the 3M brand (one of the top brands). It will last the lifetime of the car. If you've ever put tints on before it's not hard cuz its the same concept when applying the wrap (minus the need for water). That's why it was easy for me.
For big sections like the hood and roof you're gonna need 2 people so you can stretch it out nice over the surface to minimize air pockets.

But if you got the bread to get done by a shop then do it if you're not comfortable with trying it yourself. Im more of a do it myself type.

vinyl is way more expensive than the 'dip but it will last a whole lot longer and you have pretty much every color options (matte, gloss, pearlescent). and i know the 'dip is susceptible to peeling and staining also.

How should I deal with the shark fin antenna? I see some people remove the headliner and pop off the antenna.

I dipped my Saab 92-X like 2 days after I got my license, first day I bought it next day I dipped it and tuned it. 5 coats of black dip to the front and back of rims (took them off the car) and it stayed for over a year, also did 3 coats to all the trim to black that out and it all stayed the whole time too. Lost my license over some bullshyt though and I sold the car cause I couldn't drive for a few months but I just copped a silver Infiniti g25x and Imma dip the rims, grille, trim and words black first day it's not raining. Imma post a thread about the new whip when it's all done

my dark gray winter stocks are starting to peel and flake. if I still have the car next summer, I'll sand them, prime and paint it permanent dark gray...
otherwise I'll just sell the car the way it is.

when plasti dip perfects the gloss effect its over. that's the only thing alot of people complain about.

My car's in need of paint correction but im thinkin about just dippin it instead.
