Thats what makes that time frame so special the unity among folks in all areas (film, music, sports) honestly during that time the soul train awards was the only thing uniting the old and young stars in entertainment and it was love and no one looks down or ashame like now (ie BET awards)

Its also funny how during that time the soul train award meant something and was the stamp of approval within the black community to hell wit a grammy

Exactly.

I always said, it seems in 80s-90s.....black people have way more freedom than nowadays. They can say whatever they want, tv show, movies, not afraid of white people, etc. But now black people are like :whoa: "They will come after us". :mindblown:

We still got freedom, the difference is now everybody seems more about they paper than unity and standing together as 1.

Its like these news kids not even black. Snoop was like 20 at the same award show as a 50yo+ patty label(among other old heads) n im sure he knew who she was.probly went up to her and showed love. These new nikkas don't even know rappers(same fukking genre) 10-15 years older than them. N saying shyt like if u 30 u lame lol. Even as a young kid i knew all type of black old heads cuz they was like royalty. Ya moms used to clean the crib to them n ya pops used to pick u up blasting them. The generation gap within our culture today is crazy. (No Mal)

Forgot about Tracy Bingham :wow:

Michelle Thomas most underated TV chick. What was urkel thinking :what:

Da Brat cleaned up nicely :leon:

Vanessa Williams and Halle were stunning.

Like everyone else said, its crazy the sense of community we had back then. You can definitely see the effects of the culture going more main stream.

This was before every RnB Star and rapper thought they was a “brand” so everything wasn’t so calculated by a team of taste makers. The 90s are probably the last era where black entertainers had talent and individuality and didn’t have to ride waves and be on reality shows and have gimmicks to be a star. U still had to have some type of talent.
