The proportion of slaves that landed in Brazil were so much that even after 400 years, they were still able to preserve a large part of their their culture (Yoruba), it probably helped that unlike the slavery movements in North america, most of the slaves to Brazil were from a more concentrated region, A LOT of the slaves were from the Biight of Benin which was mostly between the shores of Lagos in Nigeria and Grand Popo in Togo-a 100 mile stretch that was(and is) largely Yoruba based.
