Melo is what he is. Takes a lot of shots(and a lot of bad ones) to score a lot of points. Poor defender, medicore rebounder. His supporting cast in Denver was actually underrated while his performances have been consistently overrated. The 54 win team had Tyson Chandler and Jason Kidd(old Kidd)- two other vastly underrated players.
How is he a mediocre rebounder?

Nikka isis consistently one of the best rebounders at his position

How you gonna talk about no defense ball stoppers and mention Demarcus Cousins? :laff:

Because despite his inability to protect the rim he still averages almost 13 rebounds a game, and only 3 big men (Gasol,Noah, Griffin) averaged more assists than Cousins this past season.

LMFAO these dudes clearly don't actually watch dude play. Melo is one of the best rebounders at SF and he's played decent defense for two years now. Next thing they'll start telling you he only shoots mid-range, ESPN the magazine subscription ass "Skip Bayless' opinion is important to me" ass haters in this thread.

lol no he is not, in no particular order...

1.Lebron
2. Durant
3, Westbrook
4, Paul
5, Griffin
6, Curry
7.Howard
8.George
9.Wall
10. Marc Gasol
11.Cousins
12.Davis
13.Harden
14.Kawhi
15.Butler

Are all clearly better than Melo.
Melo better than kawhi Leonard. Kawhi disappeared in the playoffs against LA.

Nikka had 13 in game 7

Paul George shot like 39% the entire second half of 12-13 season. Melo better than him too. Paul is a great two player but his offense is very over p overrated. He is a volume scooter pshooter with zero post game

Kawhi is the best perimeter defender in the NBA, and does not need the offense to flow through him in order to be effective. He is not a ball stopper and continues to get better, only Carmelo apologists would choose Carmelo over Kawhi at this point in their careers. PG is a better passer and facilitator, and he is much better than Carmelo on the defensive side of the ball.

George turn over the ball too much.

Kawhi is nice but he should be more aggressive.

Statistically... the last two season, about half of his shots have come from mid-range and long two's. about 20% from around the basket, and about 25% from three. He's going to the basket less than ever.

And as far as "rebounder for the position" -- well, yes and no. He is still a good rebounder for a wing. But technically, he plays a lot of PF for the team -- and as a Power Forward, he is not a good rebounder.

As far as the defense goes... we talk about him kicking it up the last few seasons... but he's still been nothing better than average. And truthfully, has still be bad by almost every available metric.

People are going to remember/look/view the Melo In NY era however they want. It has been pretty great to have a star player... there's not much like it when he's hot. I hope this team shows some improvement, and helps him show people that he's still a really good player.
