Melo is what he is. Takes a lot of shots(and a lot of bad ones) to score a lot of points. Poor defender, medicore rebounder. His supporting cast in Denver was actually underrated while his performances have been consistently overrated. The 54 win team had Tyson Chandler and Jason Kidd(old Kidd)- two other vastly underrated players.
Really ? you really underrate Melo all the time . Is Melo the best player in the nba ? No but a healthy Melo is one of the top 10 players in the league . He's improved defensively and is a great offensive rebounder which is almost all effort . You praising chandler who was routinely no showing any big game the Knicks played and made hibbert a star . You ignore how valuable JR was to that 54 win team . Why is that both the Knicks and nuggets best recent playoff runs happened with Melo ?? All the cast and Melo was just there chucking away huh? Melo needs a team around him just any other player ! We have teams with 2 top 10 players that win no rings in the current nba but let's focus on Melo . I mean it's not mr cp3 hasn't won a ring right hes been further ... Oh wait !!! Not true at all.

He went to the WCF once(a team also with Nene, Chauncey and young Birdman). The Knicks have stunk since the trade. And Kidd wasn't washed he just ended up playing too many minutes. And the defensive anchor and the competent PG are more valuable to a team than Melo jacking long two's and hitting them at a low rate. Stop overrating scoring.

His coach was George Karl, I think everyone in the league now understands what that means. Despite that, he led Denver to a WCF (best in history) and lost against the eventual champion Lakers. You unknowingly solidified my point. With a Defensive anchor & a competent PG (Kidd was washed btw) he will win games & make his team playoff competitive.

I hope to see forms of this Melo this year

you do realize this was in college and was 12 years ago, right? and the other link you posted was in 2012. the dude is 31 and coming off an injury.

i'm not saying he's gonna bomb, but to expect him to be what he was 3 years ago and especially 12 years is kinda crazy. i hope he proves me wrong in some respect, but people gotta wake up.

the knicks gave up way too much in the Melo trade..... Not that Melo wasn't worth it, just that it crippled the team. The 54 team had depth but it was old and the age caught up like it does most teams (just like I expect it to do with the Spurs....)

I'm hoping in the next 2 years the knick's are able to put a younger team around Melo and that in this age of Modern Sports medicine he stays more or less into his prime into his mid 30's (aka the end of his current contract). On the flip I recognize the fact that the knicks have trade assets, if Melo doesn't want to wait the knicks have options too.

Also yeah anyone who thinks that the knicks would be able to immediately compensate for Melo's scoring if he left is underrating how much Melo has carried this team while he's been here. If Healthy he's probably good for a good 15 - 25 wins alone.

"Melo just needs a defensive stopper/rim protector"

As if guys like Chandler and Jordan grow on trees.

Melos game is gonna allow him to be pretty productive into his mid to late 30s, ala Paul Peirce.... It's based on strength, skill and awareness.

Old Brooklyn, word to @DPresidential
We have two Euro bigs that I think he plans on sticking this off season.
Maybe Galdikis and Labeyrie stick, but I'd probably send both of them to Westchester, especially Galdikis so they can get regular playing time and adjust. Bigs on the market are scarce. Aldrich should've been brought back as our emergency big in case something were to happen to RoLo or KOQ *knocks on wood*. He already knows the system and can give solid minutes. He only got the vet min from the Clippers too. I would've rather Phil gave that 1.6 to Aldrich than Thomas.

Kidd retired after the season breh. Someone has to be the main draw on offense it creates for everyone else. The problem for the Knicks era is that there has been no one else after Melo 'draws'.

The Triangle base encourages easy baskets for the TEAM. It should facilitate multiple scoring threats from all areas of the basket (unlike a ball dominant High Pick/Roll). When ran right it will give the most intelligent basketball teams fits (Spurs). The plan is for other players who aren't as gifted to score and maintain a team approach to offense within that concept. This is in direct contrast to ISOMELO of Woodson.

The Key is for Melo know how to play within the offense & when he needs to step outside of it. This will conserve energy & hopefully improve efficiency. If some other player steps up & becomes a 2nd "draw "within the offensive concept (.i.e. Pippen) the entire teams efficiency improves to championship levels as long as defense is maintained.

That is why O'Quinn & Lopez were targeted. KP also may provide adequate rim protection because of length.

:francis: he's been quoted as saying he can't see himself changing his style of play after all these years & at this stage in his career.

This is the 3rd workout.... which could be due diligence, or the knicks weren't overly impressed the first 2 times

They're definitely interested. They see him as somebody who can help carry some shot creating. Could be a scorer off the bench.

Depends how much he plays with the hip thing ( I know they say he's better but I'll be cautious ) and idk I what to expect but I want to be excited and don't want him to look soft , those numbers would be good I think . Maybe 15-6-2 and 1.5

I'm trying not to get my hopes up. He could definitely like, sit a game, play a game, sit a game.

Knicks fans do not realize what Melo is yet. This guy has not had the coaching and players around him to be successful.

Dog. Stop it.

Melo is a known quantity at this point. There is no uncharted territory we're yet to see. He's played with lots of different rosters, and his game has been pretty much the same.

Maybe Galdikis and Labeyrie stick, but I'd probably send both of them to Westchester, especially Galdikis so they can get regular playing time and adjust. Bigs on the market are scarce. I doubt these guys are going to NBDL. They'll play with the team and sign, or they'll go back to europe, where they can make more money. That is my guess.
